What SDHC cards is everyone using?

I've been researching which card will be my best bet with no frustrations or failures, but can't seem to find any solid evidence on which to buy...

Obviously the Sandisk Extreme's are top of the line, everyone loves them and nobody seems to have any problems with them, but compared to the A-Data's and Transcend's it is double the price for a 16 gb card.

So, with that being said...what do you all use and prefer, is spending the money on a Sandisk the best way to go?

with my 7d i used kingston x133 16gb cards... haven't made my decision on the t2i, haven't opened the box yet- lol

i'd like to hear what people are using... especially with $20-$50 cards on ebay for 32GB

74 people have looked at this thread and only one person can respond...for real guys? Come on, help us out a little bit here please

I have a Sandisk Extreme 16Gb 60mb/s and a 4gb one for my 7D although I recommend not going over 8gb because of over heating and it's a pain if you lose one 32gb card with all your footage on.

Thanks shane, I was thinking about getting two 16gb cards for now because 8 gigs only holds 24 mins of video. I didn't realize you can lose all your footage if the camera over heats..by this do you mean when it shuts off due to overheating? Because i've kept shooting with the symbol flashing for a little bit and nothing happened

I have a suggestion. Buy one of each use them fully several times a day for a week, then rate how you like them and get back to us.

I think the main reasons you are getting little response are the 20 other threads discussing this and the fact that everybody's experience is different.

I use Micro Center branded 16Gb Class 6 SDHC and so far, 3 months and 20 uses, they have worked great.

Lots of threads out there on this subject, no doubt.

I have and use a few Sandisk 8gb cards. They are class 4, although class 6 is recommended. No problems yet.

I use SanDisk 8g and 16g UDMA 60mb cards and have no complaints. Even with the 7D overheating a few times I never had any problems with my files.
But they are so expensive.

Will be buying 2 Kingston 32g 133x for $75 each. Heard good reviews, and it's A LOT less expensive. Hopefully it will not disappoint.

For what it's worth: I press 120Mbit/sec in MJPEG on my hacked GH1 so SD cars are of real importance. My conclusion: Only cards worth buying when you need more than 100Mbit/sec are Sandisk Extreme Class 10.

For Canon work, Sandisk Ultra Class 4 and above work fine as codec never goes above 45Mbit/sec.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses!

If i had the money to throw around I definitely would, but thats why i'm asking here. I did a search for sdhc and only two threads came up surprisingly so that's why I made a post, and yes it does seem like everyone's experiences are different.

I'm just trying to justify using a faster card, a class ten rather than class 6. Does the class 10 reduce overheating at all?

anyone buy something like this from eBay:
(almost 100 bucks less than Best Buy!)

seems waaay cheap to be true! he does have a few people that have bought and gave proper feedback though. hmmmmm....

Price seems to good to be true... and the person only has 18 reviews... maybe it's the real deal... but the odds are stacked against him/her because it just sounds too good. I typically stay away from these.

I have the Sandisk Extremes, as stated they work very well and are very fast - damn those prices though. My buddy uses really cheap ones for his 5DMkII and has yet to have a problem - not sure what brands.

pricewatch usually has some decent prices listed through other vendors

I was very snippy that day.

I read somewhere that the overheating issue is the battery not the card. Some people have tested shooting with the battery cover open and it helped. Also I have read about swapping the battery often also gives longer time between heat warnings. I have only seen the warning once on a 100 degree day.

I have about 100 hours shot on 4 SDHC cards 2 MicroCenter 16gb Class 6 ($29.95) and 2 Adata Class 10 ($39.95). These cards are very cheap. They are they most warned against I have found on the Internet. My experience may not be the norm, but they have performed flawlessly for me.

Sandisk Extreme 8 gigs Never had a problem yet. Getting an HMC150 (or 2) in October, probably go with the same....(32 gig though)
