C300: What Gimbal Are You Using?

Hi Guys,

What gimbal are you using for the c300 mkii?

Do you have any pictures of your setup you could share?

Thanks

I was trying to get the allsteady setup to use with the C300. I wonder how small of a stabilizer I can get away with on using with the C300? The Allsteady is pretty big and traveling makes it a bit of a pain

I use mine on a Ronin. Standard setup is an 18-80 t/4.4 with a baseplate and it can fit without extensions. Sometimes I do need to add weight to the back to push it forward a bit.

I have a Helix standard for my C300mk2 . I mostly use primes 24-35 and a tokina 11-16 if I need something wide. I have right side handle that incorporates the C300 hand grip so camera controls are right there in my hand. This rig is designed for one man operation and a small - one pelican - travel case.

Do you have to enhance your biceps with hydraulics to lift and hold that load steady Chuck? You must be pushing 20-25lbs?

I should have added that I use a Ready Rig and Cinemilled Pro Ring set up. It is the same basic set-up as was used for all of the marketing for the Ronin 2. I have the whole thing preassembled in a Pelican 1690 case. I can pretty much shoot all day and it doesn't feel cumbersome, but it isn't a travel kit.

I suspected the same but thanks for confirming it.

Oddly enough, I haven’t weighed the rig. I’ve done 15 minute takes with the rig shooting on the streets in Manhattan. I’m kind of a slender build even though I strength train, weigh south of 160, so I’m not uber beefy. THe real key is if you’re moving as in walking as opposed to just creeping around, shooting some one talking that would be much better off shot hand held. If you’re just doing very small amounts of movement as in shooting slow detailed shots of people or things, its so much more tiring. Ihaven’t had the opportunity to use an ready rig yet. THe whole idea of the Helix was that it would fit in a relatively small case and could travel easily, I could rig it 10 minutes and not have to schlep around a stand and a sand bag for docking situation like you do with a steadicam. The helix has been great substituting for the steadicam. Having the canon handgrip on the Helix is a complete game changer.
