What are you listening to now ?

Imagine having a hangover and being on your way to work despite your hangover when these yahoos show up with all that clatter and obnoxiousness. I'd want to kick them in the nads and smash their instruments. Subjecting people to really loud, boisterous, in your face music performances whether they like it or not just isn't cool. Particularly in a setting where they have little choice but to suffer it. And you can tell from some of the expressions on the faces of people on that train that they aren't happy about some third-rate NOLA brass-band ripoff being all up in their grill while they commute.

Ha! Ten or so years back I was hired to show up at a nightclub with my sax and walk around playing in people's faces (OK backstory--I was a working musician in my 20's, faded it out slowly as my career took over and now only play occasionally.) This weird gig was handed over to me by a fellow sax player I've played with a few times who was hired as a "disrupter" by a branding company as a one of a series of events they had cooked up. It would have made a lot of sense if she had done it as she has also worked as a model--when she asked me to cover her I said, are they quite sure they wanted a little dude 20 years older than you for this? Anyway, I did it for the story. It was actually miserable. I'd walk up to a group of people doing their own thing and have to bust in and start blowing riffs in their faces. At least half the people were completely unenthused. I pretty much died inside.

I hate how it's very tough to escape from being in some type of ad campaign the second you leave your house. The public on the train are contributing to the music video as much as the music yet they don't receive any benefit from the band's continued success. Unless they're all actually extras!?

A few days ago I was having lunch and some dude with a ronin 2 was circling around a nearby table with food/drinks doing promotional video for the venue. I then saw him planning out a shot, which would move from the exterior, have our table pass through the frame before heading inside. I asked to not be included and they went and shot other material but if I didn't speak up I'd be plastered over facebook as part of some terrible commercial. I know, who cares?

I've also been on the other side, doing lighting in a "live" restaurant, setting up lights near a first date and feeling absolutely terrible.

Great tunes everyone. I love dropping in here. The Sax thing is cracking me up. Love the old road stories.
(Bill: Madonna is impressive in that link. I'll be watching the full thing later on.)

Choked up by the nostalgia. This is from a 1977 Soviet film "The Office romance" (available on YouTube for free on the Mosfilm Channel, with the English subtitles). the film itself was the Soviet box office leader but there's also a separate story about the sequence above. On September, the 16th, 1976, Moscow experienced a unique snowfall. Eldar Ryazanov, film's director, immediately sensed that it played into the main theme of his film, a relationship between people past their prime. So, he sent the actors home that day but told his camera operators to go outside on Moscow streets and shoot as much footage as they could possibly take. It was subsequently edited into a video clip/song from that film.

I’m a little concerned about clicking that link. Why is there an American flag in the shape of a swastika?

Ya. Uploaded during the GWB era. But it's the best copy of the montage I could find.

Such nonsense I tend to ignore but it may not be suitable for work. It's funny that Mosfilm put a claim on it.

Here's the full film, with English subtitles

Hey DLD. Speaking of Nastalgia I only had to go back to some old posts in this thread to get me going again from page

111...

Ol' Bowser. Looks like a young kid now haha.

I assume this is legit: (I can hear Wowser Bowser in there)

And according to one of the comments in that thread, Hendrix followed them.
The audio quality is not up to par for posting here i.m.o so here's an alternative with better audio...

I'm goofing off here for a bit right now hanging out. I'll pick it back up next post. :) -Cheers.

An oldie. Poor quality visual and audio but whatever haha. Good is good. What a girl. Love her.

:)

I think California Jam was the first case of a major rock festival with the modern sound reinforcement system. 58,000 watt, 126 db at quarter mile away from the stage. The last performance for MKIII, as Ritchie bailed out after this concert and went on to form Rainbow (with the remnants of Ronnie James Dio's Elf) ... which, oddly enough, is a sign that DP itself had on the stage.
