What are you listening to now ?

I played country rock for a few years. I hated it. The outlaw stuff as your saying was alright.

Willie Nelson, Merle Hagard, Waylann Gennings, Lynyard Skynyard with the now late Billy Powell on keys, Alan Jackson, George Strait were all pretty decent. There are a few more.
Ya know, if you really take a look at good honest country musicians. But country as a pop/commercial sound has long outlived it's lifespan.

//Edit: Wth, I'm down for a George Strait song... (as well as the others)

No love for J Geils Band?

Were you asking me? Where did that come from?

J Geils man goes back with me oh maybe 30 years or so?

He's been around for awhile. Pretty influential for bass players.

Where did that come from max? haha. That's funny. Yes I am aware of him. :)

//edit: I guess what I'm saying is this band was a major influence on one of the bass players I had played with in years past and was a very good friend of mine. Al Jimeola, Jaco Pastorias and others ya know, spelling forgiven, I don't care to spell check right now.

Here's a song ... Wth man. Just good time sounds.

I have been listening to a huge mixture of 80's 2nd European invasion stuff lately. Billy Idol, Duran Duran, The Police, The Thompson Twins, Human League, David Bowie, just to name a few.
It reminds me of Friday Night Videos. I was very very young but I remember it like it was yesterday.

A little bit of R&R history for some of you young punks.

Listening to / Watching "Iron Maiden - Flight 666." Cool documentary. Bruce Dickenson actually flys the band's private 757 around the world...

Not really into any slow songs right now but I'll give a listen to

The seventies without Fleetwood Mac - unthinkable. Here a really nice song written + sung by Stevie Nicks and first performed 1975 with Fleetwood Mac:

I'm exploring Irish and Scottish Celtic tonight. Canadian versions too.
Don't know why, I'm feeling a little Irish today.
I'm also rendering all night, so, Irish/Celtic Night it is, why not?

I'm also looking for some really good modern Celtic Rock with maybe an electric violin or electric bag pipes or some rocking sound like that, with some heavy guitar and drums, if anyone knows of any they could post, that would be cool.

A few...

My dad used to play this one so much I could play it when I first tried playing his accordian.
Or maybe he showed me how, I forget now, but I could play it. And throughout the years as I built up my keyboards, he'de always pop in and play this song. He'de play it on organ, piano, synthesizer, it didn't matter, HA. Always 'that' song. So I have to post this one.

Hey Gord, you know Richie Blackmore does Celtic music now... (Yes, THAT Richie Blackmore...) I think he still does. Blackmore's night... cool stuff.

...

No, I didn't know that. I'll check around for while later on tonight. It's been awhile since I've heard him actually.

The song you posted sounds pretty cool.

holy moly. i still can't find a stereo that this song doesn't ruin at high volume. if you're into rediculous drop-tuned sludge guitars, then this is the song for you.

@Chris:

Man, that is hard core. My first thought was, how far did they tune down? Because I think if they went any further the strings would fall off.

Yeah, but, I dig a good groove ya know? Even Blood for Blood has a groove I can get into despite the well known lyrical content. Even so I think it has it's place.
I mean, just for balance, for what rock'nroll was meant to be. Rebellious.
I love it. I don't live my life by it but I love it.

-Gord.
