Ways to get rid of Aliasing?

I'm thinking the thing to do might be to shoot a test pattern with both still and video (triggering the camera remotely to avoid movement) and then scale the video up to the same res as the still to see what happens. This is assuming it's consistent across the frame rather than adaptive, of course, but since the latter would require much more processing power I think that's a safe bet.

Software solutions to moire

I've had some success removing pretty nasty moire effects using a couple different methods.

For the color moire and aliasing you sometimes get in eyebrows, I have used a combination of Joe's Channel Blur to blur only the "Cr / Blue" channel (this helps the color moire) plus a Diffusion filter by TMTS to soften the aliasing artifacts.

For larger zebra pattern moire that you might find on a shirt, I have imported the footage into Photoshop and applied Noise Ninja.

For either of these methods, you will want to create a matte that only applies the effects to the problematic part of the image.

Hope that helps!
Peter
