Virus/Trojan on DVXUser???

Yep same here. IE ,which I almost never use, showed no warnings, but Firefox did. I actually thought it was some kind of glitch that occured because Firefox did an automatic update this morning , but it appears to be a much larger issue.

I could not event get past the warning screen at home this morning with my Macbook and either Firefox or Safari. Got to the office at 12:30pm eastern, was able to log in on my PC using Firefox, and as soon as I tried to post to this thread I got blocked with the warning screen. Now on IE (ugh)... if you're reading this, I was able to post.

Unfortunately, in my experience, this is rather common. It's been happening with email servers for years and years. When I worked IT, I used to have to remove my company's mail server from some email blacklist about once every 6 months. Very annoying.

Can't admin do something about this, very annoying to have to use IE

It's really not the admin's fault. Try reading back through this thread. What's been done has been done outside of DVXUser's domain and is not something that can be remedied internally. It has to do with Google, for whatever reason, flagging DVXUser as a malicious website.

Weird, no message on a PC, or maybe because I have been out I missed the infection? If that is true. But I have huge amounts of infection prevention on my coputer, so that might also be why.

Best,

Jan

Same here ! :(

Safari 3.2.1

Makes the site unusable - it's like wading through mud !

This is not a Mac or PC issue, nor is it a question of having the right virus protection software installed. It only occurs in browsers that query Google’s database of sites reported as malicious to see if the page you are trying to visit is safe or not before displaying it. Internet Explorer doesn’t do this which is why it displays without warning there.

If this gets resolved through Google, it will be resolved in all of the browsers that check against their list. The following post has instructions on how to do just that: http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-Indexing/msg/92b717d7dba4e831.

Basically, once the offending content—which is, according to the diagnostic, anything that links to img189.com—is removed, the Webmaster can request another security scan via Webmaster Tools, and if it checks out, Google will remove it from their warning list.

for those interested in a quick work around for this problem try using camino as a browser on your mac. chrome safari and firefox all give you the same response, camino ignores it I guess. give it a try i'm running it right now and all seems to be fine.

DVXUser.com is hacked either through SQL Injection or (more likely) simply by someone posting jpegs that contain malware.

This happened on a forum last year (SQL Injection), and the admin kept denying it was their fault or that there was anything they could do until nobody used it anymore and it died.

You guys are crazy for turning your safety settings down. Those warnings are there for a very good reason. Likely many DVXUsers are already infected.

DVXUser admins need to get on the ball and fix the problem ASAP. There's nothing we can do about it.

I'm not returning to the site until it's fixed.

This is the key bit:

What happened when Google visited this site?

Of the 141 pages that we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 7 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time that Google visited this site was on 2009-07-22, and the last time that suspicious content was found on this site was on 2009-07-22.

Malicious software includes 7 exploit(s). Successful infection resulted in an average of 8 new process(es) on the target machine.

Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including img189.com/.

I would search for images linking to img189.com and delete them.

That sortof makes sense to me because this laptop rarely visits dvxuser and shows no sign of any issue with the site. So maybe if I cruise some jpg's I will get the warning?

It’s not crazy. I still get a warning from Google independently of Firefox with the setting off. I have both a hardware and a software firewall, an adblocker, virus protection, and I won’t click or download anything I don’t completely trust. The only difference between when I had the setting on and now is that now I am not bombarded with warnings for a site I know is safe. It is only “crazy” if you are oblivious to security practices and/or have no self-restraint.

An even quicker workaround in Safari is simply to switch off the warning setting !

Preferences >> Security >> 'Warn when visiting a fraudulent site'
