Virus/Trojan on DVXUser???

An even quicker workaround in Safari is simply to switch off the warning setting !

Preferences >> Security >> 'Warn when visiting a fraudulent site'
There is a huge difference between a fraudulent site and a potentially malicious one. A fraudulent site is one that is pretending to be another, usually reputable site; for instance, a site that displays ebay.com in the URL bar but isn’t. The intent here is almost always malicious; you can get your personal information stolen if you aren’t careful. Leave this one ON. I don’t have Safari but there must be a separate option for reported attack sites.

in firefox go to tools, options, security, uncheck block attack sites, just need to watch out for real attack sites

I am getting a Norton warning that an attack from DVXUser has been blocked. That's everytime I open it for the time or surf the forum. Both on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.

Hey, guys... Sorry about this hassle... Trust me, however you feel about it, multiply it times 100 and that's what we've been dealing with all day.

I should say Larry has been. Larry kicked some serious ass. Problem identified and fixed 99.9% sure. Now just waiting on google diagnostics to update.

Sorry for the trouble guys... There are some bad people out there for sure.

Later,
Jason

We were actually suffering a couple different issues. Both of which have been identified and now resolved. We have issued a request to google for reverification and are awaiting the results of that, which should clear those warning screens you are seeing.

You guys have my sympathy. I run a software company and after 6 months of solid attacks we stopped all new users signing up for accounts, which is a real pain in the ass.

Spammers and hackers now see forums as their best way to spread and have so many tricks to get past capcha its just silly.

Even a well run site, with vigelent moderators can get caught out. There are only so many mods, but there are thousands of hackers and botnets. In the arms race they will win.

Ironically this is happenening because we are getting very good at beating spam, so they now look for other methods to spread their garbage!

Check your preferences:

Preferences >> Security >> 'Warn when visiting a fraudulent site'

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! the warning was popping up for me 2 times EVERY time i clicked on ANY dvxuser page. even once I was on dvxuser and opened a thread, clicked next page, etc. EVERY TIME. its fixed now!

(this may have been mentioned before, sorry if it was but...) is this "malicious website warning" thing in any way related to the random banning of my IP address (and i heard some others were banned randomly as well) recently?

**CAUTION**

Don't forget to switch 'Warn when visiting a fraudulent site' back on when you have finished browsing the filthy infected bowls of dvxuser.

This is still a pain in the arse, having to switch this on and off when you go near dvxuser, but it is less of a pain that having to click through several pages of warnings every few seconds.

No, my IP has not been banned and I still get this problem.

Any idea on when it might be resolved ?

We can imagine. What has it happened? How is this possible?

Being a "new" member (roamed around for 3 months before registering) I can say that this would have scared the bejesus out of me in opening up this site.

However, being here for months now, I see that this site is LEGIT 100% and feel comfortable selecting that "enter at your own risk" warning button!

Maybe you guys can ask Google if there's any "list" that you guys can be in so that IF this happens again, they'll know that it's a VALIDATED site and ignore the terrible warning signs?!

Anyhow, hopefully you guys won't need to spend cash fixing any tainted reputation :( .

Keep up the great work!!!

Now off to watch some shorts  !

It’s not crazy. I still get a warning from Google independently of Firefox with the setting off. I have both a hardware and a software firewall, an adblocker, virus protection, and I won’t click or download anything I don’t completely trust. The only difference between when I had the setting on and now is that now I am not bombarded with warnings for a site I know is safe. It is only “crazy” if you are oblivious to security practices and/or have no self-restraint.

The problem is that we don't what the attack is. If it's the compromised jpegs, then you would likely still get infected as that's quite new and still not easily detected by all software. If it's something new (and there's something new all the time) then all the software protection in the world won't protect you.

ok. google did their thing again today. nothing found today in their results as expected... Wednesday was fine. Thursday got a warning. Identified and fixed and reverified. Today, no warnings found.

I haven't seen that warning page as of a few minutes ago either. How about everyone else? Hopefully, it has been removed since we've verified that we are clean and danger free... Though things usually aren't that easy... fingers crossed.

later.

beautiful... well, that is good news. Hope it's true for everyone across the board. I suspected that getting that stupid warning cleared would be the hardest part of all :) glad I might have been wrong...

lataer,
Jason

I had the warning still about 30 minutes ago. Just checked and it works fine. Using Safari.

will be there be any changes to dvxuser as a result of this incident? like a minimum number of posts required to do things like post pictures?

The biggest change, for security purposes of course, is blocking all posts originating from users whose names begin with the letters "uga"
