Good god, a lot of hostility in here. I hope one of my videos never gets discussed here. :embarasse
For some reason, this interview link doesn't seem to be working?
I think what people are overlooking is that whether you are shooting stills or cinema stuff, some people either have a "good eye" for photography, or they don't. Vince does. He came out on a timelapse shoot with me this summer in LA (his first time ever shooting timelapse.. he had to borrow an intervalometer from me) and his lone timlelapse shot that he did with his 500mm f/4 was better than all the timelapses I shot that night!
I gotta say, while I love this community and the great discussions, this community can also be really vicious when it comes to filmmakers who achieved popularity, warranted or unwarranted. Personally, I feel that true artists create their art for themselves and everyone else's opinion of their art is irrelevant to them. That's why I never post artistic clips on the web and invite people to critique the work. If I like it and think it is good and if the client likes it, that is all that matters to me.
I never took Reverie to be anything more than a stylish demo and for that, it succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Now if Vincent creates a real film, I would evaluate that as a film but not Reverie.
