Vincent Laforet interview

okay you're a still photographer talking about another still photographer.. be welcome.. me likes still photographers.

On the motion picture side from Super 8 when I was ten, thru 16mm, 35mm and the digital film making revolution, done it all my friend. On the stills side, done it all my friend. Image making has been my life. For a photographer there is absolutely no problem to be a film maker. I don't know how the other way around works out. Movie making history is full of photographers first, becoming film makers then. The magic of composition, color, image manipulation is born from photography. It is now becoming more apparent how much that holds true with the VDSLR revolution. Laforet, Vitale and other top photographers are showing how the stills and movie making worlds meet at the end of the road. Watch and learn my friend.

Wearing sunglasses at night while gangster-leaning in your Range Rover is like an atomic douche bomb that never stops exploding.

that quote is my fav

the problem of these anonymous forums is that the only thing you can watch here is crappy youtube.
forgot.. vimeo too.
without that.. at certain point you have no clue about who you're arguing w/.. but you think you have.

Reverie was remarkable in that it showed what the camera could do in terms of low light and shallow depth of field.

I've seen it projected on a big screen and was not blown away.

I think Vincent LaForet is a good still photographer. I've seen way better cinematography out of the 5d since then. I don't get why there's all this celebrity around him now.

You sound like a hater buddy.

You really don't get why?

i think it's pretty simple, I don't think I can learn anything from him, I rather go see examples like Rich LEE or say Akira than him.
I would pay to hear them speak! Or maybe that CRank guy.

If i was surprised that his footage had actually some title then it means something,it looks like random takes slapped one after another as far as i remember. But its just because he was first to shot something with 5d , its anyway better than shoot some charts and send it back to canon.

But that is the way this samples are shot now. It is to simulate a movie. Look at the The Passage with the 7D. It has the same feel to it. But it is like an abstract painting, you give it any meaning you want or none at all.

remember the 5D ad shot in japan with the NOH actors - was that done with 5D? that was awesome and before him

The person he is referring to is Ami Vitale, a renowned photographer that got first dibs on the new Nikon d300s.

thx for the link.. now me can identify mr vitale.

got it.. the way to the fame (or whatever this means) is not making new movies.. good movies.. it is to put the 1st hands on new cameras and release random pieces on youtube.

forgot.. vimeo too.

Frighteningly close to reality, I must say. I think quality/content still counts for something, though - people are thankfully going beyond just complimenting the camera for that 7D Perya piece which does offer up something beyond Bokake.
