The ISO on the two cameras are very different. The 7D will handle low light situations way better than the rebel. I talked to a canon rep about the two and he basically told me the 7D is still the way to go, at least people will start selling their 7D for cheap.

I wouldn't trust most reps to know anything more than whats on the brochures. Reps aren't there to give you real info, their job is to promote the product. How would a Canon rep know anything about specific differences concerning a camera that isn't even out yet? I'll wait for the real non partisan tests from this forum and alike to judge the performance difference between the 7D and T2i.

Yeah, definitely going to wait to see several good samples before I even think about selling to get back some money. What got me to buy the 7D was the gorgeous images I was seeing in several of the videos on vimeo. If I experience the same thing with this new one, then maybe I'll consider selling.

Keep in mind, brand new 7D bodies on eBay listed below $1500 right now.

Technically, nothing's changed but the entry level price; it's still the same image! iGiggle. Wish someone would get rid of the moire and aliasing, already.

What makes it so hard to get rid of Moire and Aliasing? Hell, I have seen it when shooting with my HVX from time to time. They have to know it's a problem I'm green on the technical aspects of moire and aliasing but It seems like they could do something about it if they put in the time.

Hey Barry! I always appreciate your "groundedness". It is a true gift to this forum and its members.

GO WATCH THIS: http://cweb.canon.jp/camera/eosd/eosmovie/index.html

Go to the EOS Kiss X4 video. I have been watching the WRONG ONE. This one has the T2i in the credits. This is the one. VERY INTERESTING INDEED.

I gotta say that Metropolis video was a brave choice by canon to showcase. My 7d would totally wreck that footage with moire.

I'll be interested to see what some professionals have to say after spending some hands-on time with it. Too much assuming here, I think, given that so much in this camera is new/different.

I'm sold. This camera is "good enough" for my web series. I was all set to pull the trigger on the GH1 in 3 weeks. This is great!

It's easy to get rid of -- just engineer a sensor that can read a full oversampled image at 60 fps. Like Red has done.

Of course, if you do that, it'll cost $17,500 like Red does.

You want the $799 pricetag? Sorry, something's gotta give.

How about just at 24fps? Surely that won't cost an additional $17,000. I think the tech and engineering are relatively cheap. It will come to market in time.

Of course it'll come to the market in time, look how crazy cheap stuff is getting, the T2i is $799 MSRP...

Of course, you can pretty much get rid of most of the aliasing right now, for $5. Just put a cheese grater in front of the lens.

(cynic hat on: doesn't that say something, when people are worried about getting PV lenses for an SLR, and putting a frickin' CHEESE GRATER in front of the lens actually *improves* the picture??? sigh.) :D
