Duuuuude! Woahh! An amazing page you put together! Lots of work, thank you for that. I will see if I can come up with something this time around.

Keep it rolling :)

I received a nice letter from Professor Briar Lee Mitchell of AICLA this morning. Professor Mitchell has a nice article on creating urban destruction digitally in Issue 16 of HDRI magazine and she's obtaining permission for me to post the article on the VFX Challenge Page. Moreover, she's forwarding the link to the Art Institute to try and drum up interest in the challenge among students. Hopefully we'll get some new members and more talent to grow these challenges.

Did anyone else catch the program (I think it was on Discovery?) where it showed the world without humans? There was a ton of VFX going from current day cities to the Earth up to 1,000 years without humans. Buildings crumbling, vegetation growing, reminded me of this. If I can find a link to it I'll post it...

I saw "Life After People" and found it pretty fascinating with some nice CGI for some of the segments. Apparently the National Geographic Channel did a very similar program last month as well. See HERE.

I'm looking to collaborate with anyone who wants some help with Photoshop, compositing, color grading, simple 3D, particle effects, and sound design.

This one is a little too big for me to tackle on my own with my schedule the next few weeks.

I'm delighted to be able to share a link to Professor Mitchell's article in HDRI Magazine on techniques to create urban destruction. These are a series of pages from Issue 16 but the complete article is appended at the end. CLICK HERE.

Mark,

Here is a question regarding the images in LA. Since I don't live there - how feasible would it be for the intersection to be inundated with water? I was thinking of taking RealFlow on a ride.

Oh no...the images take forever to download. You would think I would have some type of okay internet...but nooo...I can't have good internet...

haha, off to the library to download this stuff then. :)

//And SanFancisco...not LA...my bad, funny thing was I looked directly at the image name and still said LA

Anybody in yet?
I'm about 30 hr's in so far but I don't know if it'll come together in time. Funny thing is, I don't think anyone, outside of the VFX guys, will recognize it as an effect. And I don't know if I can finish an upload worthy clip in time. And I've lost 2 days work due to my stupid birthday, hehe. Back at it tomorrow...I think.
