Vegas 8

yea, sure does, I have been holdibg on to that for what now seems for eva... we really need to see those specs! aghhh... :)

so I'll forget about AE altogether probably and use PS much more, but what about speed... I mean if they don't deliver then the wait for V9 for comparable performance will be just absurd!

Are you not getting good performance with Vegas 7? You have great PC specs and it sounds like you should be getting flawless editing.

Or are you just obsessed with having the best performance possible and not wasting any power that you PC has to offer (like I am)?

exactly... right now I am wasting about 5GHz during previewing and that just makes me wanna break stuff... still, I am i love with Vegas but COME ON!

One feature caught my eye - the new version is going to support BWF with metadata - could it be they will be able to read timecode and auto-sync to TC-encoded video??? That would be a huge plus. Doesn't help DVX or HVX shoots, though.

USLatin,

Not sure what you mean by main stream pro TC. I'm talking about standard SMTPE timecode and TC encoded sound files matching with TC encoded video, with the TC usually generated from a master clock (I use my TC slate as the master, though I will probably add a tri-level sync box at some point soon).

Phil

I just haven't had the pleasure of recording off camera yet so don't remember stuff bout TC... never mind me, don't want to hijack, but thanks :)

24fps4eva, yea... exactly... I own Raylight but I want Vegas to be able to run maxed out on all cores by itself then Raylight can just be a normal codec for MXF but full throttle ability should come from Sony directly for Duos and Quads

32bit float

32bit float

The 32bit float for color grading, etc... That would do anything for me since I'm using the DVX, correct or no?

Thanks!

In my understaiding it will... it should help any footage when applying several effects... but I am not sure about it and that's why I started that little thread about the subject

hey the link to V8 on the sony site is temporarily down for maintenance... could it be more info? are they releasing it? :)

Hi,

"One flew east, One flew west,
One flew over the cuckoo's nest "

While a slightly obscure source for a great book and wonderful movie, the concept is that cuckoos don't make nests, but lays their eggs in other birds' nests and let them raise their young.

Vegas was/is so good in the same way that FCP is/was so good. No unique code. Vegas let Windows do all the work. It if keeps that paradigm, it will be fine, there won't be anything to break.

Release date...

Release date...

Just got the email from Sony Creative Software, so I'm sure all of you are already aware of this... but for those who are not... it says that they're releasing Vegas Pro 8 on Monday, Sept. 10. I can't wait. I actually start a new job on Monday and the owner said he'd buy me Vegas 8 when it comes out. Great timing!

Just a heads up for those that didn't know. Vegas Pro 8!

Thanks!

over the years, sony has been cheap about features and requests..............................32bit, a new titler............for the first time in my life, i would like to say....i love you sony:crybaby: and this time i cant:furious3:

I am not 100% on page then... what is 32-bit floating processing exactly and what does it enable?
It's 32 bits per color channel, and possibly 32 for the alpha channel. The "floating-point" part refers to how the calculations are done -- integer math is essentially less precise for this kind of work. And, yes, 32-bit floating-point color is an enormous advantage and really has nothing to do with whether the OS is 32-bit or 64-bit.

so doesn't anyone find it funny that V8 and Red One are released on the same day?

good things come out in pairs :)

Who is getting it? When? Tell us about it!
