transfer p2 to mac

im about to get an hvx soon and im currently working with a macbook(NOT macbook pro) and i think im going to just connect the hvx to the macbook using a firewire and import it that way. And its that simple? Is this an okay way to transfer footage? is there other things i have to do to be able to transfer the footage? if you guys have any helpful ways or tips i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

You could do that with out issue. or you could use a dual adapter if your laptop does not have a PCMCIA slot. What are you shooting? Docs, Narrative, Sports, etc. Some styles of shooting will require you to shoot continuously thus changing how you want import the P2 footage.

Yeah, you can connect your HVX200 through USB or Firewire to your computer. If you use a PCMCIA adapter you will need the P2 drivers from Panasonic and P2CMS will be helpful as well. They are both free softwares.

Once on your computer, you can log and transfer with FCP to capture footage or use a program like DVFilm Raylight for Mac to get footage instantly into FCP as well as organize it. DVFilm is having a 25% off discount right now until Xmas.

Best,
Andy

Duel adapter requires a ExpressCard/34 slot, which the MacBook does not have.

And the newest Macbooks do not have FW.

I was shocked to find you're right about firewire...

The latest Macbook Pro has only firewire 800 (no sweat) and an Expresscard slot, but they're pricy...

I've never tried transferring HVX HD clips via firewire. I understand it's slow. How slow is it?
