nice makes me want to install source and load up some counter strike source. i cant believe they play old counter strike, that's weird.

This looks like a doc a saw awhile ago that just follows Complexity when they went to the world cup in 2004, and you got to film Team3D too? Damn, must have been crazy. The one I saw was called "CompLexity: Redemption", but unlike yours, it was free. :undecided http://www.fileplanet.com/149667/140000/fileinfo/Counter-Strike---compLexity:-Redemption
The ending is a tearjerker.

But, yours goes WAY deeper than that film. You go indepth on the team managers life, and each of the team members. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have over 250 HOURS of footage, and try to pick and cram the best stuff into 2hours tops. I give props. I'll think about picking up a DVD.

Saturnin - we shot 4:3 and matted. The film was shot on a DVX100 and DVX100A. We were just out of college when we started and couldn't afford anamorphic lens or upgrade the second camera to shot on squeeze.

Didn't really matter anyway because the first question most distributors asked was "Did you shoot on HD?"

and I don' have an exact number for how long it took us to edit the film but in total it's been several months
 
let me ask u a question, did the distributor wanted HD or they were happy with SD? Did you loose the deal because it wasnt HD?

i'm actually finishing off my 2nd doc which is also 4:3, i should have shot it 16:9, but i was to far into it with 4:3. Anyway, i'm just trying to see if HD is a necessity @ this point.

Looks good! I'm really interested in it. It kind of reminds me of another doc called 'The king of kong: a fistful of quarters" that I saw recently. Good luck man!
 
saturnin - I wouldn't say that it is a complete deal breaker, but it doesn't tip the scales in your favor. We had several meeting with some people at ESPN and the question always came up...ditto with direcTV

I would tell anyone starting a major project to make the switch to HD if they can afford it.

pfista - yup pretty similar to king of kong, only our film is about a more modern, team based game.

don't know if that movie has helped us or hurt us, but G4 is interested again and we should here back from them in the next couple weeks...

Also...magnus caput is my other account, I am double dipping here on DVX user, I'll try to keep them separate on the same forum threads at very least!
