Tiffen Digital Diffusion Filters

Has anybody used Tiffen Digital Diffusion Filters? They are priced a lot
cheaper than promist and softFX.
eg 82mm 1/4 white is only $60

Would love to hear feedback, especially if anyone thinks these are not worth it
and its best to step up to soft FX

Hmmm... given the link that you provided, it would appear that the Tiffen Digital Diffusion Filter will take a scene of a medical doctor deep in thought, and produce an image of said doctor with a pen in her mouth.

Sorry to report this but DON'T buy these filters

Tiffen Digital Diffusion filters don't deliver, I've run tests with 0.25, 0.5 and 2
and they do not do what Tiffen claim.

At first I was testing with 0.25 and 0.5 that I had bought and I thought the subtle effect was being swallowed up by the down sampling from 18 megapixel still to 1080p video. So I re did all my tests with stills. Its like shooting through glass. I sent the results to Tiffen and the response from the filter tech was 'I see what you mean'. They sent me out a 2.0 to test and its the same. Ever so slight light loss but its like shooting thru glass.

If anyone has results that prove otherwise please post as I am very disappointed with these filters.

Tiffen filters have always been of dubious quality. So I'm not surprised with your disappointment.

Even though I have a cheap set of Tiffens myself, I'd avoid Tiffen filters in general.
 
Well I thought I would give it a shot as schneider is out of my range.
I've had great results with Tiffen Soft FX 0.5 love using that filter but they don't make a 0.25
 
BTW - I added my results of the 2.0 test to post 4. Here are the results of my original test with 0.25 and 0.5

Yes, I agree that it was at least worth a shot. Tiffen is a brand name, after all.

All my ND's are tiffen and they work fine. I've used soft FX and liked the results. These Digital Diffusion ones though ...
the results speak for themselves
