#3 Bernard Herrmann (He started out a classic)
Citizen Kane, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho,​

OMG, I can't believe I forgot to mention the score for Taxi Driver. That was a fine note to go out on for Herman. Wow, sorry, bad pun.

I was just listening to Cinemagic (the film score channel on XM Satellite Radio) and was impressed with the soundtrack for Conan the Barbarian.
