I never said anything of the sort. Please be more careful when paraphrasing what I have said; especially on forums. I said we ordered our first order before the camera was announced to us by Panasonic (Sept) and that I was surprised that some other dealers shipped theirs before we got ours. I am happy customers orders are being fulfilled by authorized dealers.

Just got the email from B&H. Order shipped, will be here Friday. I can't believe I'm as excited as I am. Kind of embarrassing

i originally was within the top 150 for abel, but canceled when adorama claimed they only had 6 preorders and expected 8 cameras, but no word from them...
but for those of you who have gotten your cameras(and the rest of us hopefully soon), we'll be doing a short film contest with a prize of sony vegas pro, to kick start this camera's career.

I got this completely wrong, misunderstood in having a conversation after a long 10 hour drive, then posting another 4 hours after that.

I don't get this... Most people in Europe are receiving their cameras, from Sweden to Italy... Yet I ordered mine from the UK and my retailer won't even confirm me a delivery date at this point.... In fact, I haven't even received a reply to my yesterday email, during the whole day today.
This leaves me somewhat anxious since I pre-ordered two units on October 8th and unlike many people I went ahead and paid both cameras in full on November 23rd. I was told I was first in list (of course) and that my cameras would be delivered on December 22nd the latest.
Not having received the cameras nor a reply to my email yesterday is something I must confess I am not very happy about.
This leaves me somewhat anxious since I pre-ordered two units on October 8th and unlike many people I went ahead and paid both cameras in full on November 23rd. I was told I was first in list (of course) and that my cameras would be delivered on December 22nd the latest.

I'm #2 on the Full Compass list, right behind #1 which is Zaza I talked with Shawn yesterday through email, for those that are worried, I don't know why, Full Compass has been very straigtforward to me from the very beginning and have NEVER promised or given dates they couldn't meet. I appreciate that. They are at the mercy of Panasonic.

My order is with spec-comm. It seems like they are waiting for their order to from Panasonic as well.
It's a bit frustrating when you want to support the local/small dealers and the big shops like B&H get their cameras first. Not that I have anything against B&H, I do place a lot of orders from them too.

I'm eager get my camera but also know that at this point it's out of my control. i'm passing the time by writing a short (or two) to shoot when it does arrive.

AF100 + nanoFlash Testing
AF100 + nanoFlash Testing
Dear Friends,
We received our AF100 on Monday.
We are planning a comprehensive test, comparing the internal footage with the nanoFlash at various bit rates.
While we have a lens on the camera now, we are expecting a 14 to 140 lens in tomorrow.
Our lab is in the Colorado Springs area. If anyone has a better lens that they would like to loan us, we will add it to our tests.
We will post the results of our tests.
At a minimum, we will test the AF100 at its best settings while feeding the 4:2:2 signal to our nanoFlashes recording at 100 Mbps Long-GOP and 280 Mbps I-Frame Only.
We hope to be able to create some demanding images (tough on the codec) images.
One torture test is to rotate the camera on the lens axis. While this is not typical for most shoots, it does show how well a codec stands up to extreme conditions.
While this rotating on the lens axis is highly unusual for most shoots, it can happen in underwater shoots.
Of course, we will also attempt to show more typical scenarios.
One shot that I have requested is one with lots of shadow detail.
Another will be with lots of highlight details.
To be candid, our experience with the AF100 is very limited.
We welcome any suggestions that you may have for these tests.
We have purchased the AF100 and are running these tests so that we can speak from personal experience.
As a company, we attempt to be knowledgeable of various cameras. And we are very conservative when it comes to recommending the nanoFlash for any cameras.
For example, since most DSLR HDMI's outputs were not designed to be recorded, we typically do not recommend a nanoFlash for use with DSLR's.
We are awaiting tests with the GH2 to determine if adding a nanoFlash would be worthwhile.
And we expect new DSLR models to come out that will work great with the nanoFlash, not that we have any inside knowledge, it is just something we expect.
Here is what we expect when we run the AF100 + nanoFlash tests:
1. The AF100 will produce some very nice images in the camera.
2. The AF100 images, since they will be 4:2:2, will be technically better, but not everyone will need or want 4:2:2.
3. The AF100 + nanoFlash will be better in a few other technical areas, or under certain extreme conditions.
4. The AF100 + nanoFlash will be better for greenscreen work.
Please note that the above is just what we expect to find. We will post the results of the tests and we will post our files so you can draw your own conclusions.

We assign and email a UPS tracking number when we affix the number to a package. The package then goes to the UPS bin. Later, the UPS driver scans the package into their system. That means there's a gap (of possibly several hours) when we know a UPS number but UPS doesn't know it yet.got the email from bh. Camera should be here on the 31st!!
my tracking number doesn't work though lol.
Good then. Apology accepted and we can move on. Thank you.

Yes! Just got confirmation my AF100 will be shipping to me tonight or tomorrow. Doh! I just booked a shoot for tomorrow morning thinking my AF100 wouldn't be here until later next week (and I could have scheduled the shoot next Monday!) Oh well. At least I will have my camera this week.

I feel the exact same way Chris. I chose to support my local dealer.... after all, I'm a small business owner myself ! I'm #1 i line with my local Pany dealer.... but have no eta yet. I got the higher end adapters so I can control iris on automatic lenses.... am particularly interested in seeing what my Sigma 17-50 2.8 throughout looks like. Have enjoyed following everyone's comments/expectations. Looking forward to NOT needing my Letus Extreme.... great product and results, but very constricting as far as hand holding and maneuverability.
