And in full HD!Per usual, Canon is just now making one.
8-bit (in a 6-bit wrapper).And in full HD!![]()
And of course in Rec.6018-bit (in a 6-bit wrapper).

I find it interesting that the C200's brochure and web page don't mention compatibility with EF-S lenses.
The C300 Mark II specifically mentions EF-S as compatible ('Canon EF mount [EF lens group supported (including EF-S lenses), EF cinema lens group supported]')
The C100 Mark II specifically mentions EF-S as compatible ('EF-mount for compatibility with EF, EF-S and EOS EF Cinema lens systems.')
The C200's page just says "EF Mount"
I'm guessing it will support EF-S, but it's just kind of strange it's not mentioned specifically like the other two in the lineup. Of course, the EF version of the C700 says "Canon PL Mount" under the lens mount, so Canon's web site kinda blows anyway.
As mentioned before, Canon has not supplied their own tech specialists the specs. On the C200. So a little patience is in order.
It's like C200 buyers look for something new to panic about and obsess every day! HDMI and SDI output are hobbled! It won't work with Canon's most popular lenses! Every Cinema EOS camera is compatible with EF and EF-S lenses, why would the C200 be any different? Canon wants to sell you lots of lenses so that would be self-defeating if it weren't compatible with EF-S. I pre-ordered one, I am just going to wait until it is delivered and then go through it. Any issues will be known then. Obsessing about what the camera can and cannot do now is counterproductive.

It was more of an observation on how s*%tty the Canon web site (and their internal communication) is than an "obsession" or "panic." Give me a break.
Like I said in the post, I'd guess it will support EF-S (and it looks like it will as Terry has confirmed).
And yeah, I have one on pre-order as well... so apparently it didn't "panic" me _that_ much.
For those who're actually obsessing or panicking over the specs and such, you also do have to realize that it's understandable. I love Canon cameras and glass, but they are becoming infamous as a company that "giveth and taketh away." Lots of people are excited about this camera... and they're just waiting for the other shoe to drop with the "taketh away" part. I'm personally very hopeful Canon's finally figured it out and there won't be much of a shoe to drop, but I understand the sentiment from those who are bought into the Canon ecosystem, have been waiting for a C-cam that is at least competitive, and are a little nervous that it's going to have some undisclosed Achilles heel to protect their other product lines. It's not like they've never done that before.
Yes, sir! A few things I dislike about it are strongly outweighed by the things I love about it. I will be buying an EVA 1 as well, so I can decide which I like best after using them on a few projects. I've almost bought a used C300 MKII several times, glad I held off. Great camera but the lack of 4K 60p, windowed slow motion and the LCD screen placement/handle/audio connections always bug me when I rent it. The only real dislike I have about the C200 is the lack of XF-AVC which will be remedied by February although who knows which bit rate and data rate Canon will grace us with? The lack of genlock and TC is not a big deal for me. I wouldn't mind having them but I do multi camera interviews all of the time with the C100 with no TC and genlock and it's really pretty easy to just use a dummy slate, clicker, hand clap or TC slate. If I did a lot of these shoots, it would be a bigger factor but it's like once or twice a year, usually a Writers Guild thing for a show I work on. Other than that, all single or sometimes two camera.

It's interesting to read all the debate and then see professionals like you make a decision. Although I would be quite happy with a C300 mkii, as well, I really love the 4K raw-lite, other than that I would get a C300 after the coming price crash. Either way I won't be getting one before I hock my house the end of this year. To hold me over and satisfy my gear lust I'll get a Mavic.
If both cameras are hot sellers, one could even scalp a buck or two if timing the resale properly. Back, back, back, back in the day, we'd mark up the hottest big screens to their actual MSRP rather than to the MAP and got a little extra on a model that was going to sell out promptly anyway.I think buying both will be pretty low risk, I will certainly lose less on 1-2 month resale than I would lose paying a month or two of rental charges for the one I sell.

Sounds like my days managing Circuit City stores back in the late 80s! ;-)
