You can't shoot 1080p at 24 mbps like on a C100, FS5, etc.?I actually think it is a bit of a shortcoming that this C200 doesn't seem to offer a compressed 2K option.
Many of my clients specifically do not want 4K.

what about c200 raw vs C300 mk1 (image wise)
You mean it's 8 bit 420, then capable of 10 bit 422 with an external recorder? I could live with that.
But its not. Its 8 bit. An external recorder can drop that into a 10bit container, but the signal being only 8 bit will not be improved by just increasing the file size during record. Went through all this in the early cinema eos days.
It's a medium that's going to take time to vanish like print.
Internally, you can capture a regular 1920x1080 clip in 4:2:0 8-bit @35Mbps, and you can also capture a 2K proxy clip (2048 x 1080) in 4:2:0 8-bit @35Mbps while shooting 4K RAW.
5:00 into this presentation Brent Ramsey says the SDI and HDMI out puts 10 bit 422 for use with a external recorder. What am I not understanding here?

Sorry I should have been clearer, but posts on the page I took your quote from werent specific either. In 4k it's 8bit, the camera does output 10bit through hdmi / sdi, though in 422 10bit its HD only.

I remember the VHS era. Kids these days.Don't take it too literally, ha.
7+ billion in the world...some are still going to buy them. It's a medium that's going to take time to vanish like print.
Numbers were insane years ago.
The players haven't been out that long and, even then, it's been the HDR tug of war between the manufacturers and so on. And then they had to be TV set compatible. I think, once the dust settles, a lot more classic films will come out and the Christmas shopping season is as good a time as any....I'm just annoyed when I can't find an older titles in blu-ray, as I won't buy DVDs any more.
You may want to double-check the HDMI info when the camera comes out...or at least just take a quick look at the manual.
I'm not saying it doesn't do 1080p 10-bit 4:2:2 via HDMI because I don't know (and obviously the guy in the video says it does even though he's just reading from a teleprompter)...but three pieces of documentation I've come across only mentioned the SDI doing 10-bit 4:2:2. (And I've seen that output signal configurations chart floating around, but it's a bit confusing.)
From the Canon papers:
"In addition to the internal recording, the EOS C200 can output either 1920x1080 YCC 4:2:2 10-bit over the HD-SDI Terminal, or 3840x2160 4:2:0 8-bit over the HDMI, allowing an expansion of recording formats through an external recorder."
Newsshooter:
"Colour depth is limited to 4:2:0 when recording MP4 files to the internal SD cards, although 4:2:2 is apparently output over SDI on a clean feed for external recording."
And the chart below...just again showing it only under SDI.

Thanks for the info Buzzkill... ha! Maybe since the chart shows 4K 8 bit 420 at 60p , they are just overlooking the 1080p 10 bit 422 in the chart? So far we haven't seen any disclaimers that it doesn't do 10 bit 422. We can only hope. Maybe I'll call Canon tomorrow and get the scoop. This is an important little detail I'd like to know.
But all that comes in the $7,499 package right?
