There is definitely something odd about the way the audio gain works. When gain staging, I usually test both a -20 tone and a full saturation tone, 0dBFS, just to make sure I’m not clipping the preamp. On the R5C, actually reaching 0 dB is nearly impossible no matter how low the voltage signal is or how high the camera gain is, therefore I am sure it isn't clipping the preamp. Instead, the camera seems to self regulate itself down to about -5 dB. I don't know what is going on, but I haven't had any problems getting useable audio on the R5c as long as I'm careful not to try to push the input gain too high.
