Teaser for my short

Nice style j, and congrats on tackling provocative subject matter.

You also posted the boxing clip, yeah? How did that project turn out?

Thank you guys... I should have the full film online tonight if all goes ok.

StMad, yes I posted the boxing clip a while back. There's a huge delay right now but the final day of production should be completed soon. I REALLY want to get the film finished by the end of May.

I was waiting for that

Well it's like this...

If you have to do a film/short about something like two lesbians to attract attention rather than a piece of work based on your own good filmmaking techniques and hard work, then I think that is rather cheap.

For example....it is about 10 times easier to play electric guitar than it is to play acoustic guitar. That is why so many people just learn to play electric and make songs on electric and try to tout them as great because they really dont have the skill to play acoustic well.

Just saying...try making a film/short about something that can stand on it's own two feet without needing to use something like that.

I really think that movie makers, tv show producers etc...put girls kissing in just to boost rating and get people to watch when they ar ein a slump or don't have real material.

This is constructive criticism on how to make a good film stand on it's own, don't get offended please.

Nice teaser...can't wait to see the whole thing.

Corusa...I've found that it really depends on the project and personal goals..which usually change for everyone over time.

I think you'd need to know something about the filmmaker before you make a judgement like that. I don't, but the teaser doesn't come across as cynical to me.

CORUSA Design,
Don't take offense to that? lol, you attack my teaser, then attack my taste in filmmaking and you don't know anything about me nor why I took on this project? You're an idiot for setting that stage for yourself and attacking the genre of choice without knowing any of the context. You'll go far in life with that nugget on your shoulders.

Subject matter aside, Coffee, I thought the trailer was great...with the possible exception of the amount of black strobing. Not sure if I liked that - maybe a little annoying?

Nice job!

Feel free my borther, it's everyone's forum. What you said was indeed well said. Also, as one who has viewed this film did you feel that I used this "trend" as a gimmic in this film?

jaustere, thank you.

jaustere, thank you.

There is no way you're using this as a gimmic and I find it crazy that someone who hasn't seen the movie can make a comment on the storyline. That's like saying that 24p is a trend and is used as a gimmic to sell movies when haven't even seen 24p footage. Come on lets be real. The truth is it take balls to put your hard work online for everyone to see and rip apart. If his movie had been about a heterosexual relationship you wouldn't have said anything. So let cuts the BS and wait until you can see the whole thing and then formulate an opinion

nice teaser man. The material did no bother me at all. be it trendy or the rising of homosexuality, whichever it may be. It still seemed to haev a very human story in it, therefor i felt something from it. Well done!

what exactly was your problem with the letus 35? no good?

Connor, man. Where to begin.
It's possible you didn't read the thread title correctly and missed that this was a "teaser" for a film. If that's the case, great. Everything you said would be rendered moot and my post has no meaning.

Sorry to pull the soap box out from under you there Steve, but you seemed to react and post too quickly without actually reading what I really said. I DID see that it was a teaser, and I DID know that before I ever posted. It doesnt matter when the final film is made or not, my point was that a film is worth watching if it is a film that can stand on it's own two feet without trying to appeal to the latest political/controversial fad that's happens to be going around.

"teasers" are made from shots that are either IN the final film, or smiliar to the content of shots that will be in the final film...I cannot support an immoral film, nor can I support and immoral teaser.

FYI - I know exactly what constructive criticism is, I gave it once, so I will give it again...

Make a film that can gather it's own merit based on the script, cinematography, framing, casting, set designs, character development, post-production, etc...A truly GOOD film will be a film using popular professional techniques, not popular immoral fads.

Think about it...for example, why did the movie "Eight Below" make so much money in the box offices recently? It has NO sex scenes, not one, it had NO homosexuality/abortion/anti-war sentiments, it had NO Bush-bashing. Now, why did "V For Vendetta" make money? Hmm, tough one there...it appealed to the far-left liberal mindest where lesbians are true-heros, and the United States is evil, and terrorist are really just freedom fighters and 'everything is ok' blah blah blah.

So to the filmmaker - the bottom line is that if you are in it for the money, just say so and I will shut my mouth...If you are in it for the technique of good filmmaking then you may want to rethink the film. Oh and Steve, that is as contuctive as it gets, sorry you dissaprove.

...people can make whatever their hearts desire... filmmaking is open-hearted story telling... the good, the bad, and the ugly... it's all art - and that is what makes it fantastic.

Good teaser... I do agree with others that I like the look of the color (very nice)... but felt there was too much black flashing (got me a little distracted.. but that is just my own opinion)... storywise, I'm looking forward to the finished project.

...KEEP ON RISKING... AND KEEP LIVING THAT DREAM

Thanks man! Really!

Hey CORUSA Design, your "constructive criticism" is given in a way that's similar to bashing a guys knees out with a bat while you tell him that you're just trying to help.

You judge my teaser as being horrible because there are two girls kissing in a scene but then tell me that good filmmaking consists of " script, cinematography, framing, casting, set designs, character development, post-production, etc.."........ I agree with this single line of yours and I feel that I tackled all of these pretty darn well despite the idea that the script consists of two women, well actually three.... lol, I bet you had a stroke over that.... LMAO!

I respect your position in viewing gay folks as being sinners or whatever you feel but I can't get over the idea that people like you still exist.

Oh also, hell yeah I'm in it for the money. I would love to support my children by making films for a living. Silly question.

I've got to disagree videomaniac, there wasn't nearly enough flashing.

J, I thought you were making an exploitation flick? What gives?

There was definitely some teasing in the shorts.

lol...I concur.

yes, it was good! The acting from what i saw so far looks good, good angles, good color, blah blah blah. I really didn't see much wrong with it.

One shot I didn't like so much though, the dolly-in with the 2 girls arguing and one is holding up the picture frame. it looks a lil off to me but, thats just my lowly opinion. don't mind my comments. :lipsrseal

wow a war is raging in here! Time to join....if thats ok with you all. Well its gonna have to be cause here I come.

Um yea, I think corusa guy in lamen's terms is "trippin balls" . Calm down dude, chill pill perhaps? I agree with eyebite. Corusa using constructive criticism? NEGATIVE!
Wow that wasn't constructive at all! you were kinda goin Incredible Hulk there cor.

I mean seriously, why is it really a problem when you are trying to make a movie about a current situation? I mean why not make a movie when the idea is fresh in your head? I think making a movie on a current political situation or what not can make GREAT movies. Making movies is an artform right? And an artform is an expression of oneself right? Well, I would guess if there is a current situation that is effecting you emotionally wouldn't you want to express it? DUH! I suppose you hate movies like Casablanca then huh? I mean they were making a movie with a lot of WW2 stuff in the film which was the political/controversial thing goin on.

Another thing, using a bit of something popular to draw people in a little isn't bad. If it doesn't change the whole film to do so and still keeps the main story then why not?

I think you will argue back stating some other garbage. To be frank, I think you just hate this just because of the lesbian thing. You don't even give anything else a chance. Did you even comment on any of the good aspects of his teaser? NO! I mean seriously from what I saw in the teaser, it looked good to me. So shush already and go to church. I think you need more learning in life to do. Oh by the way I'm Christian too but I guess I'll burn in hell in your eyes right? I bet you voted for Bush. :violent5:

Sorry if I went off a lil bit, everyone. I really meant to keep this short, I just don't like closed minded individuals. One of my pet peeves. Wish I could just ignore all of them...ignorance is bliss.

Hey! Now I'm the one "trippin balls"
