Now that the film is out there I can post this last installment in the series:

Production & Post-

Now that the film is done and submitted to the first festival I can share all of the behind the scenes (BTS) pictures, and talk a little bit about the production and post process. This will be the last post in this series regarding my work on TFG. It has been a fun journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of the film.

Production Work-
As I had mentioned in the previous post there were several last minute problems that really could have brought the production to a halt. But fortunately ... READ THE FULL POST HERE.

Yep, but we all like the feedback- both positive and negative. The only way to grow is to evaluate your work, learn form it and move on.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it. We are all happy with how it turned out. Everyone really put their best foot forward and everyone's contribution really made this film what it is.

As for the Senator- good catch- not everyone sees that little detail when watching the film. It is not critical to the story, but I think it is a nice touch, and it adds to the young G-Men's line later in the film IMO.

We were never concerned with what was in the box, as it was just a plot device to move the story forward. But I wonder what it would add or take away from the story to reveal what they were after? Definitely something to consider for next time.

As far as I am aware, there is only one part that has ADR- and that is the intro scene of the G-Men. The rest of it was just production audio. But I could be wrong...

The was her FIRST acting gig. Period. She is a model and was excited to stretch her creative skills in this short and I think she did a great job for her very first time on screen. Ah the roof...the roof...the roof. LOL. We all agree. We tried our best with our options and the time we had. It is actually rather hard to find an urban roof location that is (a) safe (b) free/cheap (c) insurance will cover (d) large (e) and has access [other than a fire escape]. We got totally lucky that we knew the owner of a building that we were able to shoot in the basement, exterior on the property, in the stairwells, etc.

We really were going for a "visual" piece and I hope we achieved that in the viewers opinions.

I'll go ahead and put in my vote that I thought the blonde tart did a fine job, she should be proud, I thought her acting was perfectly suited for the tone of the piece.

I then ask, why have a box at all? If the whole thing was a set-up so the couple could kill all the others and be together...did you even NEED a box?
We never really knew what they were after anyway....could have been anything? :huh:

I think it would have added closure...they simply set everyone up to get them on the roof.

...and I still want to know what was in that damn box!:)

Great job guys! Had a real 'Smokin' Aces' feel to it and I dug it. Loved the old school car-in-front-of-the-screen gimmick! It looked awesome. And the Tarts were definitely HOT! Well done!
 
Wow! If this is what you can do in 20 hours, I'd like to see what you come up with in a week! Very well done. Excellent lighting, color, mood. I really liked the stylized car scene. The projection worked out great.

The gunfight scene would have worked better if we could have had some wider establishing shots. They all seemed to be just feet from each other so it didn't make sense that they were ALL such bad shots - to then have the brunette be able to put one in the G-man's forehead. Really, a very minor quibble with the film that overall has a heightened sense of reality, so I didn't dwell on it too much.

And, oh my gosh - Rick Dancer!
 
Hmmm...

Positives: I totally dug the Guy Ritchie meets Zak Snyder feel of the film. The clever cuts and splits were very well executed.

The acting was awesome for those who were actors. :P

The lighting was gnarly in parts! But in others, not so much.

NEGS:

I'm not sure if it was my PC, but out of all of the films, your's was very grainy, and the colorizing seemed off. The rest of the films showed up fine, so I am not sure how to take that.

I didn't fully understand the story. I understood that all three were after something, but since they all opened different doors, then I was thinking it's not the same SOMETHING. The rooftop meeting seemed played to coincidence for the first few seconds until I understood that they were all there to either meet someone or find something. The part with the box and the dude out of nowhere at the end killed it for me.

It sucks to say, but I think the story seriously failed a very talented film maker. You did what you could with the story you had, and visually, it was good to look at. I'd really like to see what you could do with a more linear story, or even just a tighter story than this one.

And no bags to your writer at all...not trying to offend.

The shoot was over 3 days- it was the last day that was 20+ hours. (Everything at the building & fight scene.)

I'm glad you liked it, thanks for checking it out. :)
 
Very funny and ironic film. A real comedy of this genre of films. High production quality and I like the costumes. It reminds me on 'Before Sunrise'. I enjoyed it. Compliments!

Ah, I see. I think I just saw the part about the building having a lot of different locations. Still, three days is no slouch.

Yep :)

Our goal was to create a stylized looking film that was fun. It wasn't meant to be serious - we HOPE that came across to more people than you. The over the top lines, opening on a sex scene, assassin prostitutes, clowns...
