T2i - no HDMI out during take?

480p is still pretty good. I have an 8" HDMI 800x480 monitor and it was good enough for the 5D...stuff was never out of focus...Z-Finder not so much.

Good to know! That's what I was figuring!

Is it possible to set the T2i to output only 480 through HDMI so that I don't have to wait for the resolution to swap when i start recording?

On my Lilliput, when I have an HDMI cable plugged in, I can set it to DVI mode and there's no resolution change or going blank while recording. Setting the Lilliput to 4x3, as opposed to 16x9, gives me the correct aspect ratio.

i do not understand what you mean by setting to DVI mode ?
I got a lilliput7" with hdmi, but i do not see this option.
setting the screen to 16:9 or 4:3 does not suppress the blanking when recording.

Press the A/V button to toggle different video modes until is says DVI in green letters on the screen.

What he said. When set in DVI mode, you won't hear the audio on playback, but you can always switch back to HDMI mode if need be.

ok, so if you choose DVI mode , you still use the hdmi plug or do you need to use the other cable ?

I've been looking around the web for this monitor but keep finding one that has rca connections. Got a link to an HDMI site ? (where did you get yours? BH has none)

The problem for the aspect ratio is T2i screen is 3:2. So it is not 100% translate to 4:3 or 16:9 on external monitor.

It looks like that's a good solution. I tried a SD LCD monitor.. but the problem is mounting. There' a bunch of cables to hide, and the external battery just doesn't fit anywhere. Looks like this coollcd package would be a good solution, as there is only 1 HDMI cable include, and the battery is mounted at the bottom of the battery.

I'm tempted.. but still from what I read, the HDMI output will down to SD quality during recording.
