GH4 Surprise for GH4 owners

New firmware.

Gives the GH4 clean ISO up to 6400 (Lets not get greedy :) ) and start and stop record trigger via HDMI.

I'd really love a clean ISO that high! I wonder though, can that really simply be fixed through software? I mean, it'd be interesting to know if that's the way they do it on the C100 and on the a7S.

Engineers can tweak things. It would be great if they are listening and are willing to make the camera better with the feedback they get from actual users.

I'll play along. . .firmware that introduces a more professionally oriented 4:2:2 in-camera codec or maybe even a raw option of some flavor. Or how about a Panasonic external 4K recorder (the more I think about it this seems most likely).

According to 43rumors, Panasonic has a surprise coming for current GH4 owners.
Any guess what that might be?

I'm going to guess 10bit 4:2:2 internal recording.

I doubt they'd be able to sell their YAGH interface if they did that, so I'd guess it will be a LOG format. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I have a hard time seeing any of the big manufacturers stepping up like BlackMagic to offer internal 10-bit 4:2:2 internal anytime soon.

Free invites to NAB 2015, so people with GH4's will be everywhere. Costs them nothing, gets them something.

what good will LOG do on THIS sensor if it knocks everything down into 1/3 of the sensors range? Won't that diminish its fuller potential? Just asking...
(I understand what LOG is and why it is handy in cameras that are higher bits and DR)

43rumors previously had an "f5" rumor that Panasonic will be including gamma log in early fall for the gh4 so it's probably that.

Panasonic previously had a 240fps at 720p option for their new fz1000 but removed it prior to release - I am really hoping they add that to the gh4. Perhaps this is why they didn't include it with the fz1000 since they crippled that camera in every way possible to not cannibalize he gh4

It's my understanding the that GH4 does not need the YAGH for 10bit 4:2:2 out of the HDMI port. The YAGH is only for XLR audio in and SDI output.

As mentioned on 4/3 Rumours I think they might add support for Atomos Shogun and NinjaStar recorders, like start/stop detection via HDMI.
The owner of Atomos has already stated in an online video that they have been in contact with Panasonic about certain issues and frame rate options not available for Pal customers, he also said the Engineers and Managers at Panasonic were keen to find solutions to these issues.
I would love the Log, Gamma, ISO improvements and 10bit internal recording but I don't see this happening (hope I'm wrong) I would also like to see a lock function to prevent changing frame rates when shooting. (this has happened to me a few times) plus
the ability to switch on the LCD display rather than the present mode where it switches off at about seven minutes. Finally the ability to buy an upgrade FW package for Pal customers to gets rid of the 30m record time would be great.

Whoa...describe this please.
