Stuck on a PC hard drive

I need to get some P2 files off of a hard drive for FCP editing, but the drive was formatted on a PC, so the files are locked when I try to open it on Mac.

I have another drive which was formatted to a Mac, but my PC isn't reading it.

Any advice?

For the second drive as FAT32 in the Disk Utility and it will be recognized by the PC.

What are you referring to when you indicated that a PC formatted drive locks files on a PC?

The files are treated as read-only, so Final Cut is unable to open them. I can copy them from one drive to another via the Mac, but the files are still read-only on the second drive.

I'm missing something here. A Mac (well, a Mac Pro anyway)can read an NTSF formatted drive, and FCP doesn't care if the files are locked for reading in L&T.

And we have to ask: Did you retain the full P2 card format intact; i.e. the CONTENTS folder _and_ the LASTCLIP.TXT file together in a new folder, without renaming?

And, are you pointing FCP L&T to that new folder, and not a sub-folder in CONTENTS?

I also wonder what is going on.

The OP tried to "open" the files on a Mac. You don't open them at all; just locate the in tact p2 volume copy and transfer them
