FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

Dont forget the bag pipes. we kept trying to get you to play before the movie started..lol

it was a great pleasure to meet you all. And I am glad you enjoyed Avenal. We really hope that you come back and see us sometime.

You brought a great excitement to the Town as well as allowed us to meet and make new friends.

The pleasure was all ours, I assure you. I told Matt that the Avenal Theater would be a great place to test screen all our movies!

Here is an Avenal story: We finished the last screening and loaded up all our movie lights, cameras and other things. Our lighting technician, Shane Foster went to his van and started it up only to find his lights were not working. He told us to, "Go ahead and leave..." and that he would just sleep in the car until morning. We told him, no way, we never leave anyone... And even in formal wear, started to work on fixing his lights. We were around the front of the van and were struggling to fix Shane's lights when three young men in a van stopped and, walking over, asked if we needed any help. They were Correctional Officers off shift and were on their way home. We introduced them to Stephanie French our female lead star, and the nice guys went speechless and got real shy.

So, on a dark street, at 3:30am, we were offered help in Avenal.

Yay Avenal!

We fixed the head light though, and then went to Denny's for pancakes!

I think the last showing at 11pm was my favorite. The audience was screaming and shouting at all the right times... There were interactive comments, like, "Oh No!"... At the end of the film there was cheering and clapping. Before the 11pm show, there were only around 15 tickets sold, but the locals came out and both screens were ultimately short of only around 15-20 seats from full. Heck, my seat was even kicked by the lady behind me at the appropriate scary time! Cool!

Gary, I am sorry to hear about the car trouble but so glad we had some people stop and help. cant get that in big cities.

And we would LOVE to have you come do all your movie Premiers here. I am sure the theature would as well.
I know I was talking to some that work at the City as well as the movie house and we were saying we hope this is a first for Avenal and that it brings in many more.

I know you would be welcomed back with open arms.

And Stephanie is sexy and looked really GOOD that night no wonder the poor guys were speechless!!!! glad under those conditions they could still get the lights working for you and not be too distracted by her..grins

The film surpassed my wildest dreams...

I am so glad David! That is the reaction you want from the star of your picture!

We had a great deal of acclaim from the audience I am not sure we deserve...

One said it was like a good M. Night Shyamalan film,
another older viewer said it was like a thrilling Alfred Hitchcock film.
Wow... what praise! We won't say it about ourselves, but we will take the praise and be thankful for it.

We will be doing a few final score/sound tweaks after the next test screening in Oakhurst and will call it done.

***Also, looking for a 6000 to 10,000 lumen 16x9 HD video projector for the Oakhurst showing that won't cost an arm and a leg to rent... If you have one in California or Nevada and don't mind sharing, give us a PM.

Well, no PM's on the projector. Oh well. :crybaby:

We will be locking a sufficient lumen projector for the Oakhurst showing tomorrow from LiveLight in Fresno. They seem like very nice people. We will be literally converting a 1980's vintage theater to run state of the art digital video and 5.1 surround sound for the night. It will look and sound great!

Matt and I are heading down to LiveLight in Fresno. They do all the major lighting and video for the concerts that come into town. :engel017:

We ended up getting set up for a 20,000 lumen projector. We tested STRICKEN on it at the warehouse and WOW!

If you are anywhere nearby Oakhurst, CA, get your ticket to see STRICKEN July 9th at 9:30pm at the MET Theater. The experience will be amazing. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Matt is in the Editing Chamber of Glory and is putting together a reel of BTS video. We are laughing so much. Troy Ruff and our make up artist Rachel Jenkins are so funny!

As we watch through the over 12,000 HVX clips we are seeing why we did such a quick job in production... We used stand-ins all of the time to set up shots so we could just place the actual actors and go. Boom... Shot done.

We hope to put a lot of this on the Blu-ray disk.

I told Matt it would be fun to just have a disk of all this for the cast and crew to keep for memories. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

We are going to test our improvised 5.1 Surround Sound set up on Tuesday of next week at the Met.

Also, we sent off our Copyright materials to the Library of Congress to finish securing our name.

Our Aftershock Studios LLC business account has been established and capitalized. Ah, the joys of corporate taxes...

Matt has been also slaving away at the feature script for MAGIC. We will shoot MAGIC after THE PARK. We are toying with the idea of doing both concurrently and doing post for both at the same time... Are we insane? Maybe... :nads:

Two more movies?

Yup. Our next film, THE PARK is entered as a screenplay in the Action on Film Festival. It is a 1 hour 45 minute comedy to be filmed in and around the Sierra Nevada mountains. We have firm commitments from 5 actors already including three of our leads. When we read it we laugh until our throats hurt!

Director and writer Matt Sconce is finishing MAGIC a dramatic script of mystery and intrigue.

We are dreamers and are still dreaming... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

that is great to hear Gary. I cant wait to see what Matt gives us this time.

I dont see Matt's wife or you getting your house back to normal anytime soon..lol

Nope. But that's OK. I have just finished the rough of our poster design for THE PARK. Funny, funny, funny! When we get STRICKEN sold to a distributor we will go all out on THE PARK. Matt sent a script to the principal lead prospect yesterday. I hope he signs on to the project as he is a really funny guy.

Cool you're tackling comedy next, that is an extremely tough genre to get into, on a low budget. Can't wait to see Stricken here in a few weeks!

Not with our script of awesomeness! Mwah Ha Ha! Seriously though, you're right. The Park will do well because it is so freakin' funny. Costs are reduced due to our filming locations and connections. Fun times!

We look forward to seeing you at the AOF, Brandon!

I also also have a film in AOF, so I'm going to try and make it out there. Your film is at the top of my list. I've been reading your thread from time to time living through your experience vicariously. All the best with your test showing on the 9th.

Wow, we have an exciting day ahead! The 200 seat MET Theater in Oakhurst is sold out, completely! I feel badly that there will be many who come to the door to try to see STRICKEN and won't get a ticket.

We Link up with Jeff the Live Light technician this morning at 9am to carry the 200lb Barco HD 20,000 lumen projector up into the projector room at the MET, plug it into 220V power in the panel and then do all the set up for the film. Jeff is an expert, so it should run smoothly. We have Jeff for the whole day so it will be great to get to know him.

Matt and I were at the Fresno Film Maker's Alliance meeting last night. There are a lot of talented people in the Fresno area that have a passion for film. It is great getting to know more of them. We introduced the scripts for THE PARK and MAGIC and had a lot of interest from people there. We saw some good prospects to read for some of the parts in THE PARK.

We have the pre-amp 5.1 Surround sound unit ready to wire into the MET system tonight after their last showing of a regular 35mm film. We will have to run upstairs and unwire their standard Dolby unit and wire ours in to get the proper surround sound for STRICKEN. I must say, our sound is AMAZING set up that way. The high quality of the sound in this theater, where the sound equipment was mandated by Lucas Films for STAR WARS sounds so good, it is like another actor on the screen.

I'll let you know how it goes! :engel017:

Good luck

Thanks so much!

It is great to see your film displayed for people! Here Matt enjoys.

We will offer a SECOND SHOWING at midnight if we presell 50 tickets or more.

Here Jeff Rush from LIVE LIGHT of Fresno rests after Matt, Ray Hernandez and I helped him carry up the 200lb Barco projector. Whew! We had to military press it over a wall in the stairs.

Jeff wired it into the 220V as it requires a 30 amp circuit. It is a big boy!

Jeff tells Ray what he would need to buy if he puts in a digital projector at his theater. They really like the Barco unit at Live Light.

The Barco unit is very versatile. It has different lenses for different distances of throw, has computerized controls for all functions and features and is a remote away from any alteration to make the picture perfect. What a great unit.

Matt helped Jeff dial in the unit.

Then, Matt was an audience of one... He called up the setting changes after watching various parts of the film and perfected the show.

I boosted the light in this shot as we closed down the PS3 and went home to rest for the show later.

We are so very excited as the sound is perfect and the picture is rich, full and color perfect. It is going to be a great show!!!

More tomorrow after we stop being zombies...

Just got in from our big Oakhurst Premiere. It was amazing. Packed house, amazing visual and sound quality, tons of happy people... good times! I will post more about it when I have arisen from my slumber of contentment. -Matt
