Something I shot

I really liked the bingo shot.
Actually the entire thing was amazing.
Great music as once stated.

I REALLY liked that. I also have used that Elliott Smith song in a film. Excellent choice in music all of the way through.

Each shot looked terrific. No excessive color grading, weird filters, just well lit, well designed shots.

Agreed with all the others. Looks very good, and I'd love to see more of it. SOLID acting,
and trailer was almost a movie in itself. VERY NICE.

Hey you guys are really nice. I'm glad you liked it. It's funny you mention Garden State. I actually wrote the script before Garden State came out in the theaters. Then we shot this after it did. There is no full movie. Basically we shot this extended trailer and two scenes from the movie to use to help shop around the script. And it actually worked to some degree. But by this time Elizabeth Town was coming out and it's trailer was marketed very similar Garden State and we started thinking that maybe this "type" of film ie; the quarter life crisis film, was being done a lot and even though my script wasn't the same it would undoubtly be marketed the same and we basically stopped trying to push it into production.

As for the crew, for the majority it was just me. I lit and shot everything. For the stuff we needed sound for we used a boom guy or if it was a static shot I just attached the boom to a c-stand. Very basic stuff. Shot everything over three days.

good looking stuff. just because some stuff was made with the similar vibe
doesn't mean you should stop production. I would love to see this whole film.

it shows a lot of potential from you as a director. Its a breath of fresh air to
see something besides zombie movies. lol

I would love to talk to you more about some work.

I'll PM soon

peace

Ok I’m sorry, but GOOD STORY???? hahaha, what I saw its another overdramatic teenage drama, and some of the dialog "i wish everything could be as simple as this, you and me right now, its the only thing that makes sense to me" haha I think those lines have be written about 1000x and wow...."I tried to kill myself, It didn’t work" hahaha. What makes your movie different, its the same story, and the dialog is some of the most cliche stuff I have ever heard. Don’t get me wrong writing is hard, that’s why I don’t do it too often...I work with a writer instead haha, but I don’t think coming up with original stories is that most difficult thing in the world...and to me that’s what its all about, I couldn’t stand making a film with the same story its just not interesting. I think visually it was good for sure, some of the shots looked very nice I think some of it was a little flat and milky as underexposed dvx tends to get but not too bad. I really liked the shot in the bowling alley with the old dude passing by. It also all cut to together nicley angle choice was nice and simple, but this is all technical stuff, Im not saying its not important because its how to make a movie work, but having a good story is the core of it all and if you don’t have that you have nothing.

I checked out all your videos on your site. I can definitely tell you use FCP and LIVETYPE, good stuff man! Do you shoot with the DVX100B? Any adaptors?

I really like all your stuff. 1 question - is this your full time job? How do you have all this time to do this?

Well I'm glad you figured out how good my script was based on some dialouge. If it sounds similar it's because it's universal themes I'm dealing with. The line "I tried to kill myself, it didn't work" was supposed to be funny so I'm glad you liked it :)

No worries, not every movie is for everyone. Peace.

So this stuff was the DVX100, the original. I shoot with a HVX200 now. See www.darkhorizonthemovie.com and the "fall color" link on my site.

As far as having time I guess I make time. My number one priority in life right now is to be a working director/writer. But no it's not my full time job. I usually take crappy jobs that have nothing to do with the industry. It keeps me motivated to work on my projects. Thanks for the compliments.

What was your shutter mainly? It was real dark to me. But not in a bad way

It's been so long I don't remember. I don't think I messed with the shutter but I know I was experimenting with different tones from the Master Pedistal. So that's probably what you're picking up on.
