Snow Scenes

Re: Snow Scenes

Sweet work Disjecta. Somebody needs to get you your own channel. 24 hours a day. That piece made me want to go get some hot chocolate.

Re: Snow Scenes

It makes me want to see a duck doc... I've gotten find of those little creatures in your clips. ;D I have two stuffed ducks and my daughter named one of them Disjecta!

Beautiful work. I've never even SEEN snow in "real life".

I am honored! :D

Re: Snow Scenes

Awesome, as usual. Are you entering the DVX December contest? Dagnabbit if you are! ;) Anyways, do people just kayak around the lake very often? How big is the lake?

Re: Snow Scenes

The lake is 88 acres. I'm not going to enter the December contest although I would love to. Just don't have anything to submit right now.

I just updated the edit. It's tighter and longer (more footage) for those interested...

Re: Snow Scenes

Hey disjecta, I've seen some incredible footage from you. How do you shoot your stuff? This and the Brackendale footage. Do you use the anamorphic adapter, squeeze, or letterbox?

Re: Snow Scenes

Disjecta,

Okay, I'm running the freeware version of Quicktime on my Toshiba laptop. On your earlier compilation and this most recent snow edit, I'm getting what I can only describe as interlacing on the leading and trailing edges of the in-flight duck / eagle feathers. Is this something you're seeing as well, and if so, is it an encoding thing or a frequency issue between the fine-texture of the feather and the video itself? Naturally, I'm accustomed to seeing screen door and horizontal stripe issues when shooting interlaced video.

Also, would you ming [re]telling how you're using the DVX insofaras as the lens (you said "standard" above) and post tools to achieve the lovely 2.35:1 aspect ratios? Thanks for sharing your beautiful work and happy holidays!

Re: Snow Scenes

i always want to live where you live when i see your material. ;D great as always

Re: Snow Scenes

Overlandfilms, I don't see the interlacing you are describing when I look at it. I am going to assume it's your software unless anyone else is noticing it.

Braw, I shoot letterbox and uprez it to 16x9 using Photozoom Pro as documented in the top post in the Technical section of this board. No anamorphic lens used...I don't own one :P

Thanks again for the kudos....

Re: Snow Scenes

Thats wierd, I had another look right before I posted my last post, and it had them. Now they're gone. Looks even better now! ;D

Re: Snow Scenes

Hey Disjecta...I just watched snow v5.0 getting better all the time. I'm on to you though, you live in some ugly subburb somewhere and you sprinkle white powder in front of beatiful xmas cards then shoot them in macro ;D

Re: Snow Scenes

Ok Mr. "Disjecta", I am sick and tired of seeing this footage from Xanadu, Shangrila, Eden, Utopia, name your synonym. I mean, you put everyone's footage to shame. Does Zeus send you the music you use directly? is he your DP? C'mon, what gives?!

Re: Snow Scenes

that was really awesome. i love snow so i feel like i cold sit and watch it for a few more minutes just to relax. i really liked the DOF with the tree and the house in the Bkrnd. wasnt really a fan of tthe shot with all the green and brown stuff, but i really liked when the focus changed to show the wire.
cant wait till i can film the snow

Re: Snow Scenes

Hey Steve...you can start tomorrow. Look up at those mountains, and it snows almost every day ;D
