Smuggler's Ransom- OFFICIAL THREAD

Wew hew! Thanks for the plugs Mr. Brandon! Yup, 40+ minutes of music... in record time. (at least my own record) HOpefully it all makes sense with the picture.

cheers everyone. I'm late to the thread, but brandon's seeming to fuel this beast on his own :)

You bet dude! It totally makes sense with the picture... what a great score man.. Amazing work!

Mark just got the final render of the chopper... oh me oh my it looks HOT! All we have left are a few chroma key shots, and this sucker's done!

I've been fortunate to hear the whole score and see it combined with the film...all I can say is...Justin, you sure are fantastic!!! I can't wait to have you score something for me!

You captured the emotion of each scene very well and did a great job of making the score an extra character when necessary and then making the score almost subconscious when necessary.

Great job!!

wew hew! I guess when you are staring and looking at a project for hours on end i guess it just kind of runs together. Cool that it's working and Thank you Larry for the kind words. Just say the words, push the button and i poof. I'm there. ;)

Yeah Justin, I sat down and just watched the whole thing from the beginning, which I haven't done in a long time, and it really moved me... the whole film worked so well, and your music really glued everything together man!

For all the tech geeks (myself included) here are the lights we used on Smuggler's Ransom.

2 - 1K Arri-light softboxes
1 - 650 Arri Fresnel
1 - 350 Arri Fresnel
2 - 2k Arri Fresnel

and of course a lot of flags, and diffusers. I did not use any colored gels. I did any colorizing in post.

hey brandon i gave this thread a very good rating so hopefully that should help and don't worry about stupid people who give stupid ratings...this film is gonna rock!! i can't wait man! and i'm REALLY liking justin's work!

UPDATE: Tim (Slimothy) is going to be helping with our final few effects (chroma key) shots, and I believe he and Mark are working on those today.

Justin has begun uploading our final score, and we eagerly await it! :)

Plans for a LA screening are also being made... expect an announcement soon. Most likely time of this screening will be early March, first weekend.

Just got the score in from Justin. WOW! WOW! This guy is a musical genius! I love everything he's brought to this film, and it's a much better film with his music. WOW... Just want to give him a little bump here.

Carmens Theme is sounds smooth. I don't know how else to describe it.

The opening credits are very professional. I hope you get some kind of distribution on this so I can be like, "Hey I know that movie! I remember when that first started!" and then pretend to be all cool...

I wonder if there's a way to string all 900 posts of this thread into one big picture in photoshop and then make it a scrollable item on the DVD. That would be cool, man. Coool.

Thanks! And yeah, Justin's work is fantastic!

I certainly hope we get some distibution. I have high hopes :)

Stringing all the posts together might be pretty cool! Kind of a cool idea for a special feature!

UPDATE: Made a few minor CC changes tonight, also added film grain to chopper shot to make it match with the footage better. :) It's looking good. Justin's score is all in, Sans the end credits music. I also think he's working on a cool special feature on the score of Smuggler's tonight :)

Really looking forward to the upcoming screening. Hope that one of the screening room suggestions will work out.
