Smuggler's Ransom- OFFICIAL THREAD

Good job Brandon. If you win the 10k you should send me $50 because I will be praying to sweet Jesus for you to win. Deal?

Just kidding :) I'll do it without the benefit of $50 just to be a nice guy.

Seriously though, you have the dude from Boy Meets World in your film. How can you not win? I hope you destroy all of those other filmmaker's hopes and dreams in the fest. Let them know that to compete with the Briceman they're going to have to up their game.

Smuggler's Ransom has been selected as a semi-finalist in the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. http://www.independentchristianfilms.com/

We are in the running with about 25-30 other films for the Jubilee Award, which includes a 10 thousand dollar cash prize!

We're very excited to be screening at this festival as it is one of the largest Christian festivals in the country!

Smuggler's will be screening sometime during the festival, October 19-21. I am thinking about flying out for the festival, but we'll see if time/finances will allow... would love to see any other DVXuser's out there as well!

Excellent! Congrats! Wonder if I can make it down there to witness my stellar VO in person. Hmmm.

HA HA Thanks bro! And thanks to Justin, and Jason as well for the encouraging words!

We really like our chances at the fest, as I do think we've got some real talented actors in the film, and the very nature of having an Action/Christian film is something you don't see a lot.

I'll also give a little brief update. I am writing a faith-based, feature length script right now. I started writing on Tuesday of this past week, and I'm about 1/4 done with the first draft. I'd like to have a really good draft done by the time I go to San Antonio. Anyway, just thought I'd leave that news for ya'll. Thanks again!

Hey hey everyone! A little more news about San Antonio... since we got in, we've had many many emails about people interested in the film, and interested in carrying it in their bookstores, or webstores! Things are going well! Daniel will be going out to San Antonio, but sadly, I won't make it... too much going on here right now... I really want to go, but can't at the moment...

Also, here's a short interview I did at the AOF fest in July (Smuggler's was in the festival)

Brandon, just one question. Is there a compression problem on your website? The "first 5 minutes" seems to be very grainy during the scene inside the house.

Not picking on your movie, it looks very interesting!

Just curious as to why it came out looking like that. What format did you encode it with? H.264?

Cheers,

Mike

Brandon,
Congrats.. it looks like Ransom is getting off on a good foot. Our film "The Book" was a finalist last year at SAICFF and I wasn't going to go this year (I don't have a film to screen). I am going over to pick up a pass mainly to see your film (since it is a home festival for me). I feel like I'm supporting a friend. Wish you were coming down but will try to me Daniel and say 'hi' from the DVXusers side. How's the cover art coming along? Keep it up

Awesome, thanks for checking it out!

The cover art is coming along great! We have another fellow "user" Kyle Prohaska working on it. The DVD is set to be released on November 27.

Hey Mike.

It is indeed H264. And that scene is indeed grainy. The whole film is kind of grainy, it's one of the aesthetics we actually went for in our post color grading. It gives it an aged, period feel.
