Just seen this variation on ebay

Mine just arrived, took me 5 minutes to fit it (as I had Caleb's mount previously).
The SmallRig mount is very solid, but I need to test it in the field for more of a rounded opinion.

It could be about how the perspective is distorted in this picture, but it looks like the piece offsets the grip laterally more than what I would want it to. This is important not only ergonomics wise but it also means more strain on the screws due to more leverage the camera weight creates (longer lever, more mechanical advantage). I think Caleb's very first mod which was adding a receiver rosette into the grip, while not as universal due to being just a female receiver rosette (as awfully sexist as it sounds!), was a better connection. Mine is about to arrive too, will see.
Now mine has arrived and I'm selling the camera. I'd give it away but I can't be bothered to even go post it.
Thanks for that. I'm surprised you can get that thumbwheel absolutely tight. Can you try it with sweaty fingers for me? ;-) just kidding
I didn't make the Crony for attaching to camera rosette directly, arm killer that way, but it's nice to have if you want it. I just wanted to jailbreak the Sony EXT arm so we could decide for ourselves. I agree that Sony uses undersized, underbuilt everything but disagree that the 2.5mm screws are a cause to worry. Using a Crony puts no more stress on the fasteners than using the supplied EXT arm if I'm understanding you correctly.
