C300: Small on-camera mic

Anyone have a recommendation for a very small on-camera mic for the C300MKII?

This would be used on a very small travel setup - C300MKII body, side handle, 24/40mm pancakes only (~2.5kg all up).

So it would need to be 3.5mm and have a cold shoe mount.

I'm looking for something that's a step up from the internal recording, but does not need to be great. Mostly for ambient sound and a bit of dialogue.

I like the Rode VideoMicro but it won't work because of the lack of 3.5mm jack power.

Sennheiser makes this mic: Sennheiser MKE 400 Compact Video Camera Shotgun Microphone. I hused one on my C300/gimbal combo for a time jsut to have a scratch track to sync with dual system audio. It might do the trick for you.

DO NOT buy this one ^^^^^^ I bought it when I was mounting my C100 on a gimbal, it's all brittle plastic and as fragile as an eggshell and sounds terrible. Spend $20.00 more and get this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1201397-REG/polsen_sms_45a_sms_45_mini_shotgun_stereo.html it's aluminum and sounds a lot better. PM me and I'll sell you mine as it is just sitting there since I am selling my C100.

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping to go sub Rode VideoMic Pro size. The Polsens look the part, it's a pity the Rode VideoMicro cant be run off a small battery.
