Site down

Errors that we receive have nothing to do with user side.
Cache and history clearing advice is just throwing sand in the eyes of dvxusers.

Agreed. Still getting the same error messages from the server side.
If I look again a while later on the same computer, still running with no restarts, or not even closing browser, I can access and post this email.

DVXUSER won't load on my Pixel3 phone running Android v10 when using Chrome. When I tried using Firefox on the phone I received an unsupported compression error message. This was happening all day. All of a sudden, DVXUSER now loads with Firefox. Strange.

Most of the time when this happens it says the page cant be found, or loads a logo and blank page, but I did actually get an error earlier today:

Definitely not a user issue....

Yeah, just hit me now as well. Cleared cache/history in Chrome and came back up. Still should not be happening, will dig into it again.

Brent, have you had a chance to see what might be going on?

Peeking at the source code for this page, it looks like DVXuser is running on vBulletin 4.1.10. And it looks like that was released in 2010 or 2011.

But looking at the vBulletin forum, I see:
"vBulletin 4 End of Life
vBulletin 4.2.5 is end of life and will not be receiving any future development. Warning: vBulletin 4.2.5 is not compatible with PHP 7.2.0 or higher."
https://forum.vbulletin.com/forum/v...20308-install-error-500-internal-server-error

It looks like the current release version is 5.5.4.

Maybe the page's code is misreporting what version of vBulletin is running, but perhaps an upgrade is in order? Or perhaps a move to a different host would help?

I bet a bunch of us would be willing to chip in some money to help pay for an upgrade, different hosting, or just to compensate for time spent trying to figure out what to do next.

Good luck!

Can definitely second this experience as I have the site in my favorites...the last 2 days were the worst on my end...could not access DVXUser at all

Becoming more frequent down here in Oz. Chrome sometimes loads when Firefox and Edge fail. There again sometimes Chrome fails but overall failing to load DVXUser is becoming far more frequent. Web Admin should look into this for sure.

Site does not work on a regular basis. That includes desktop and all mobile devices. It’s a shame. This has historically been a good platform.

Unfortunately it looks like it needs some solid maintenance to get it working properly. I hope they fix it.

Yes, we will be upgrading to v5 of vBulletin, likely by the end of next month.

I believe it might have to do with GZIP compression so I am working with tech support on the server side to explore that.

I still consistently get the "cannot decode raw data"* error several times a day. I've been wondering if the site problems are contributing to the apparent lack of/less activity on here over the last few weeks.

Yea, this site is not functional more than not these days. Over the years, DVXUser has definitely been a place I go to everyday and have had a bunch of great interactions with. Its been a real pleasure to be involved with. At this point, it looks like its functionality has been compromised pretty bad. This site hardly works for me at the moment. I get error messages 80%+ of the time.

Brent, I get the "unrecognized form of compression" error when the site is down. Hopefully, you're on track for a fix.

Made some tweaks late last night. I am continuing to work with support on the server side to resolve. If you experience the issue, please PM me with exact time of the error, Pacific time, so I can keep getting data to support.

Is it true dvxuser and reduser.net are owned by the same person? I never have problems with reduser.net.
