vtwiz, this thread is like complaining about getting a new set of Taylor made clubs for less than a grand, then complaining that it doesn't come with a towel that says target on it. Like the set you can buy from target. Directors like to look at a clear screen to see the composition of the shot.. Techie's like to look at a time code and a blinking light that states 24P next to it. I'd like a $250 camera as well as a $1600 camera to have the option. Hell I'd like to have a camera that comes with 2 7" 4k monitors and options up the turd cutter, but alas we are stuck with the biggest pile of garbage that requires you to tap the screen to stare at the time code. I think you need to get past it, or throw rocks at the Panasonic plant, and eggs at the offices if this upsets you to no end.
But seriously if this is what you have to complain about, then I suggest you go with something that has that one particular option without everything else the panasonic does. Like this? I am just sharing options for you. There is a sony forums that you can post about the limited options and such available on that cam. But I can bet that you can read the time code in an interview without lifting a finger.
