C100: Show us your rig...

This is my set up. Fairly bare bones. I had a Shoot 35 base tripod plate from an old 35mm adapter which has 1/4inch thread on the base to mount the Ninja to. I was attaching it to the handle before but it seemed off balance and a bit weak to be honest.
The viewfinder is unusable out of the box so I bastardised a LCDVF viewfinder by tearing off the rubber eyepiece from it and placing it to the C100 VF, fixed into place with a cable tie for added security. Works a treat.

Try and see if they will sell the eye cup only. Shame to have to buy the whole item just to discard the bulk of it.
Honestly, it fits like a glove over the C100 viewfinder. The only downside is that you limit access to the eyepiece diopter.

Mine is something similar to Gavin's using a Lanparte EVF mount fixed to the Zacuto Gorilla Baseplate. When I add the top handle for sound I can spin the top arm 180 degrees. I never had much success with a mini magic arm as it would constantly come loose.

Hi Drew...interested in your set up with the Ninja 2 & Lanparte mount. I use the top handle attached most of the time. Do you think this is the most compact set up to have the Ninja off to the right side? How solid is the connection with the single rod? Don't want the Ninja mounted on top of the handle so this looks like the right set up for me too. Thanks.

Redrock Micro Ultra Cage definitely adds some weight but allows me to mount my wireless receiver above the handgrip. I can also mount my Zacuto EVF with a CineArm screwed into the cheeseplate on the left side of the camera.

Sorry John, I'm only seeing your question now! I no longer use the Ninja, however, this was a great success. Everything is locked tight compared to a magic arm. The only down side with the setup I have shown above occurred when I added the top handle and swung the bar to the right causing it to become slightly unbalanced when hand-held. However, this is an issue with most side mounted solutions. In all honesty I think this is rig slightly over kill - I have seen people using the Cinevate universal mount meaning the ninja is permanently suspended above the LCD on the back of the camera with the top handle attached. It seem so be a very secure way of mounting EVFs etc.

I have slightly modified my setup to look something like this when using my Zacuto EVF:

I attached the rig to the side mounting hole on my Zacuto Gorilla plate. Again its rock solid.

Not so much a "rig", but here's my C100 with some homemade XLR cables. These were inspired by a blog article I saw on The Location Crew. They're pretty easy to make and I would definitely recommend it for run and gun stuff where you want a nice clean set up with no dangling wires to get in the way.

Yeah I had cable envy when I saw similar cables in the bog article I mentioned. I could never look at my old cables the same again and just had to try to make some. You can get everything online from Markertek. The right angle connectors are $8 each, the straight ones $4 and cable is about $.80/ft (you only need a foot or two). Takes about 10 minutes each cable to solder depending on you soldering skills. If anyone's interested in the materials list just PM me.

Wow. Those are NICE! Do you have a parts list for the connectors and cable? Also, what are you using to hold your NTG3 in the clip?

The parts list is pasted below. Note that the right angle XLRs can be adjusted to any angle you want. I bought a couple of different cables to try and ended up using the Mogami W2792 which was a good compromise between durability and flexibility. The Canare L-2E5 is super slim and would be a good choice but probably a little harder to solder. Google how to solder an XLR cable and you'll see how easy it is.

Holding the NTG-3 is just a cut rubber tubing for a garbage disposal that I bought at Home Depot. I also use red/orange flat hose washers. Slip 3 of them over the barrel of the mic and they hold it pretty well, but it's harder to get them on and off quickly. Still searching for a more elegant solution though.

Here are a few shots from my setup:

• Zacuto gorilla base plate and 7" aluminum rods
• Fotga DP500 II Follow focus and lens support
• SmallHD DP6
• Apple thin HDMI cable (recommended!)

This is a very nice setup and for the past two days it's been helping inspire me to get the wallet out and buy the bits I need! (thanks for that!!! )

I bought myself a SmallHD AC7 OLED monitor with strongarm. Not at all happy with the strongarm so i've ordered a Zacuto Gorilla Plate and standard EVF mount to put my monitor on. This will use the side hole of the Gorilla plate. It's also time to upgrade tripod so will be doing that too. Will post pics of update but for now just a mock up of monitor vs C100 LCD pics
