C200: Shipping Date

I put an order for a C200B minutes after pre-orders opened up at B&H but the only indication I’ve ever gotten was October...

When I was at Canon Burbank the other night, one of the Canon reps, in an unguarded moment, was asked when it is delivering and he said, "mid-August", then he looked like he quickly regretted saying that ;-) I asked Loren Simons and he said, "August 38th" (kiddingly). Honestly, the reps probably don't know or have been sworn to secrecy.

Canon C200, C200 24-105mm Kit, and C200B Shipping August 2017

August 2017 is the ETA that i've been given for the C200, C200 24-105mm Kit, and C200B cameras by Canon.

I ask everyday for a firm ETA and get August as the response.

Any information on the actual date the c200 preorders will start shipping in the US?

I hearing rumors that c200 Kit with lens will be shipping next week. and that Camera kit beginning of September. If this is true this will be very sad news :(

B&H is saying, "Beginning of August 2017" for the kit. I think those of us who ordered the camera only or C200B are going to still be waiting a while.

Well that sucks. I'd bet most people ordering this camera at launch either already own that kit lens or don't because they don't want it...

They say October for the B and Sept for the kit, but nothing for the C200 body alone, so here's hoping Terry's rep is right about August.

If you really want/need it, just do what people do with still cams, buy the kit w/lens(because it always seems like there is an over abundance of them and never enough 'body only', at least with stills) and turn around and sell the lens. You may have to hang onto the lens for a few months to unload, but not the end of the world. It's exactly what I did when I bought my 5D3. I was down the list for body only, but on launch day B&H had stacks of kits sitting in the warehouse. Ordered the kit and when it showed up, I cancelled my pre-order of just the body. Eventually sold the lens to a friend.

That's the oldest trick in the book...companies always make the kits available first before the bodies show up.

If you pre-order Canon cinema cameras from B&H, they might not cancel the order (unless you can talk your way out of it) and you'll be stuck with them.

The body or the 'B' will definitely show up at smaller authorized shops around the country before B&H starts pumping them out in full.

The 24-105mm kit is $8,400, as posted by Terry. The 24-105 F/4 MKII is $1,100 retail. That gives folks a $200 margin to play with in order to break even on the kit buy.

Yeah, I don't need or want that lens and my life has been too full of Craigslist and other ads for selling stuff lately so I guess I will just have to patiently wait.

I took out a business lease through Canon Financial and B/H for only the body. Do you guys think they'll let me upgrade to the body with the lens without that much of a hassle?

If you have good credit, I can't see why increasing your purchase by $800.00 would be that different but of course, you'll have to ask them as they are the ones financing you.

It's more about the technicalities of the paper work. The $800 should be no problem at all, but they will let you know if it's possible to update based on their system.

If you purchase something from B&H with PayPal Credit, for example, you can't add an item to that order after it's been placed (or at least you couldn't when I last checked). The entire order needs to be canceled and redone if you wanted that extra item to be a part of the entire order with that payment method.

But with a credit card, you can add items to your order and everything will update and adjust accordingly.

So it's just one of those things. Really depends on the system in place and the overall flexibility.
