SGpro Day 9

I can't believe there is still people drying their clothing out side!!
I thought that was only done in movies haha!!
that is wounderful!!

I really liked your image again.
but I am woundering now that I might just be liking the colors in your footage... more then the DOF

maybe if you have the extra time, can you add a shot or two that's shot only shot with the DVX?? I don't think I will even knowtice that maybe.....

(you don't have to do that thought....all footage from DVX are always beautiful anyway)

wow. you sir are making are making me crave an sgpro very much. great shots and colours. went really well with the aphex track too.

ryvac - yeah my family does it during the summer to cut down on using electricity cause apparently they charge alot in nj. next time i go out ill bring a normal dvx and try to shoot some of the same shots so you can see the difference, ill just incorporate them into my next upload

"a normal dvx"?

Do you mean a 1st gen. dvx or did you upgrade to an hvx?

I could have sworn that you've always shot w/the dvx.

oh no, i still use dvx. i just meant a dvx without an adapter so he could see the difference between footage

next time i go out ill bring a normal dvx and try to shoot some of the same shots so you can see the difference, ill just incorporate them into my next upload

Thanks man!!!
this will really show how good the sgpro stands...more then the color correction.
Because I think the MB really is giving the filmik look, and lets see how the sgpro will make it look even better!!

luke - it is very cool. i am still learning though
ryvac - i will make sure not to play with the colors so you can focus on just the depth

Maybe you could help me with my problem. My friend let me borrow his Nikon AF-S Nikkor 55mm-200mm F/4 (can turn AF off.) It looks fine on his picture camera, but when I put it on the DVX-SGpro combo, it was WAAAAY to dark to even see anything. I went outside and got some footage, but came out as if I had the F-Stop to F/16 on my camera, (but was all the way open.) There is no manual F-Stop changer, and the aperture looked very small.

I went to the camera store (kind of a small one) and tried some really fast lenes, (F/2.4) but it was still too dark. They said it was because all of the lenses didn't have a manual aperture, and were electronic and that I would have to find an older lens.

Is this true?
I WANT TO USE MY SGPRO SO BAD!!

Hey ya this is completely true. Any lens that doesn't have an aperture ring will automatically go to the smallest aperture possible, near fully closed. You need to use lenses with an aperture ring. I know sigma's have the aperture ring on the lens therefore letting you adjust it manually.

Steven are you using Sgpro without the flip module?
I have one with their old filp (i believe it's from letus) and Im loosing so much light, do i need some kind of achromat or tube if a take off the flip?

jerry - yeah i dont have a flip. i am planning on buying a little lcd screen to flip the picture instead. im not sure about the achromat and tube question though, sorry. try asking it in the 35mm section im sure plenty of people have an answer

i just capture each clip seperately then put each in the timeline. in vegas each clip has a little logo on it for effects, and another one for like its dimensions and stuff. you click the dimensions one, type 180 into the rotate box and close out. takes like 3 seconds per clip (i have it down good)

Do you have much trouble composing shots since everything is upside down on the LCD and view finder? I would it imagine its a bit disorienting but could get used to it.
