SGpro Beach Shots

Yeah, she definitely carried the part fine for having little acting experience.

ha ha, yeah, I imagine that flipped images can be pretty daunting on the shooting process.

wow thats some heavy grading, looks good though. do you keep your image your shooting in the DVX as neutral as possible and then make the necessary color corrections in Magic Bullet? also, do you prefer the SG Pro over the Letus Extreme?

Fantasic work Steve. I am planning on buying the SGpro sometime this summer.

Do you edit on FCP?

Would you recommend the flip module?

Do you use MB for all your grading?

What settings do you use for exporting footage from your editor to AE?

sorry for all the questions, thanks!

longshanks - my dvx is set at -7 master ped and -3 detail level, everything else is zero. some stuff i do in magic bullet but im shying away from it, it has been affecting my footage negatively for some reason lately.

i cant recommend the sgpro over the LEX because i have never used the LEX, but I do recommend the sgpro in general. it is very nice.

mackfilm - i edit in vegas on windows. i never used the flip module with the adapter. i got used to shooting upside down pretty quick, but i do want a little cheapo lcd screen to put upside down to be able to frame stuff easier. i want to get the hpx170 when it comes out and its supposed to have a image flip in the lcd (lcd only) which would be cool.

i dont use after effects, but when i have to i just export uncompressed and it works fine

I had a dream that took place under that bridge thing that that guy was standing under before. By the way, that guy has a VERY A-list look to him. I wish I knew a talented guy that looked like him so we can colab on hot ****. Yeah, the color corrections were on POINT. I'm all about vivid colors, high saturation and high contrast, so off rip, the 2nd and brightest one was my fav. Where are you located?

Thanks whitewood, but the I am pretty sure the kid under the bridge has barely any acting abilities. He was actually trying to rap cause he said it would be a cool spot for a rap video. The beach was at Atlantic City New Jersey, we drove there from Philadelphia to shoot a short video for school.

steven, I dont know if my adapter is dieing or what but I am having trouble with seeing grain while shooting now with my sg with fresh batteries. it looks like you where using a higher shutter speed than 1/48th, but npo when I do that, the sky shows grain stucture, maybie it is just time for a matte box so I can stop dowb before the adapter like I had to do with my brevis if I want to shoot sky above 1/48th.... great looking stuff.

Jon

hey thanks jon, i havent seen you here in a while. i actually had visible grain in this footage too, but its hard to see in this file. it was spinning grain so i think it was also because of the batteries dying. i think most of this was shot at like 500 or 1000 i cant remember though, i havent really had any problems with grain other than when i mess up and forget to turn the adapter on or the ois off or change the batteries. even my reds and oranges look pretty nice for the most part

I know, I have been on too many projects, well when I get a chane I'll get some new footage up for you guys, did a few experimental films, and a few more shorts. Im going to have to find out what is causing my sg to slow down, I have put Lots of hour's on it, hmm. Well good stuff, keep up the good work, hopeful I'll be shooting the sg with a ex1 on the back of it in a month or 2

Cheers,

Jon

the only 35mm adapter i've used is the mini35 and let me tell you, that is one HEAVY beast, does the SGpro feel weighty too, or do you never go hand-held with it?

longshanks - im not sure exactly how much the sgpro weighs, but it isn't too bad. probabaly like a pound or pound and a half. I have it all on the rails and the cavision support system. the main problem is that with cavision the entire camera/adapter is infront of your shoulder, so your arms take the abuse. shooting for an hour can be hard sometimes especially if you did it the day before. im thinking about buying a cheap monopod and making a belt for my waist with a little cup so i can put the bottom of the mono pod in my belt above my zipper and button, and have the other end extend up infront of my and screw into the bottom of the rig, hopefully that helps somehow if i can make it correctly

I guess people are searching for the word "beach" a lot on here. Or SGpro...

No idea who Brian Shima is. Someone looks like him in this video?
