Samsung NX1 getting log-like setting

That puts it slightly ahead of the NX30, on par with the NEX-5N RAW stills, which means clearly better than the pocket and the a7s video. It would be great to be able to record that in 1080p24 downsampled uncompressed RAW form.

Still, for 1080p60, RAW would be too heavy (200 MB/s, or 1600 Mbps), so an image profile that preserves the whole DR from the sensor is still needed. Plus, this route should be easier than recording RAW video, so I'd expect this to come first, then RAW video, if ever.

Is it worth it to spend more money to get the 16-50 F/2.0-2.8 ? Or is the IQ of the "kit lens" good enough?

I appreciate people uploading footage, but wish someone would point the thing at something with a high contrast. None of the test footage I have seen would need more than 9 stops, so we are not learning much.

I guess we get what we get at this point. I am sure there is not much more footage out there because the difficulty of converting the H265. All I know is am getting one in Feb. I like what I see so far.

I'm set to receive mine late this week. Hopefully I can get some decent skin tone and other tests in, such as shooting outdoors in high contrast.

One thing I have not seen mentioned much is the 1080p mode. It supposedly has excellent RS compared to 4K (the only positive note it seems out of the Cinema5D review) that paired with the new higher bitrate option will be interesting. I'm getting the camera for 4K but a ton of my Run & Gun work is still 1080p. Also interested what the 1080p looks like recorded to my Ninja Blade.

Found this great surfing piece in 120p. This looks decent and was shot before the higher bitrate option was available.

The new manual now on page 132 shows the mbits rates for the different movie sizes. The 1080p24 Pro shows a 16mbits rate. I don't know how that translates to H264. Double, 32 mbits?

What's the situation with audio on the NX1? Does it have full manual control when using an external mic?

[h=2]Changes in firmware v1.2[/h] [h=3]Movie mode:[/h]
  • Audio levels adjustable during movie capture
(I'm assuming this applies to ext mic)
