Rumor: Canon 4k super35 camera

Oh christ, MASSIVE FACE PALM, you guys are so ridiculously stupid it is sad, stop listening to rumors, it does not have 1080p at all, there has been nothing announced about 1080p from the event, 4k has though, so why is everyone believing this bullcrap from DVInfo?
you're the one who is stupid my friend.

There hasn't been a priced announced yet, what the hell, dear god.

Why are you freaking out over the price so much? Its 16k! Its been announced with an official article at dvinfo (which started off as a Canon XL1 site) - they don't 'do' rumors over there.

If it's Canon-related, and it's posted on DVInfo, it's about as accurate as you can get. Chris Hurd doesn't post rumors, though a detail or two may be off. Generally if he posts it, it's true, and it's direct from Canon.

If DVinfo's info is correct I bet they were not meant to post the info so early! Why keep it secret for months only to have DVinfo crash the party.

Its 4K

8:06PM Now we're talking about the sensor inside the C300. It's a full 4k sensor, with 1920 x 1080 pixels for the red and blue colors, and 1920 x 2160 pixels for green.

It's a 4k sensor that outputs 1080p. 3 color and 1 luminance channel each get 1920 pixels.

"Felix and Vincent echo what the others said, namely that external lights are unneeded when filming with the C300.".... Oh boy here we go!!! Hey at least this should lead to a good thread rant from RPO!!!!

Engaget homepage now reporting 4K

"It contains a Super 35mm CMOS sensor and delivers up to 4K resolution with the outfit's new "top-end" EF zoom lenses"

I'm not sure I believe it though...

Wouldn't engadget have the same "pre announcement" spec sheet as DVinfo?

So DVinfo has found out the exact info before Canon officially announce it? Before they stand up at the very thing we're watching and announce it?

I'm not disrespecting DVinfo but that's just not going to be the case. They're going to announce it inline with the RED announcement and have spent far to much time and money to blow it to a website.

Or maybe DVinfo are the top dogs. I dunno. Just seems unplausable.

No need to fight like rabid fools though. Some of you need to calm down and show each other some common decency. It's just a camera.

8:11PM List price is $20,000 and we'll see these hit stores by the end of January 2012. Yes, 2012. As in this coming January. Worldwide.

But here is the thing, if you come out and make comments like (paraphrasing heavily) "You can go and shoot movies on this directly" or that "students can realize their movies" and then have a price tag of $16k, that makes absolutely no sense to me. This camera should be AT MAX $8k for what I see so far. MAX. It just doesn't make any sense. To me, their dialog doesn't sound like they are talking to professionals.

I was thinking the same thing. I figured this would be a great camera....for $4-$5K.

I'm so confused. Is it 4k output or a 4k source really nicely outputting 1080? if it's the latter it really does sound like one chip that acts like 3. But is it 4K? Indeed about the fighting it's a bit petty. I can't ever buy this thing but I'm having a blast!
