Rumor: Canon 4k super35 camera

I'm so confused. Is it 4k output or a 4k source really nicely outputting 1080? if it's the latter it really does sound like one chip that acts like 3. But is it 4K? Indeed about the fighting it's a bit petty. I can't ever buy this thing but I'm having a blast!
From what I've read, it's not a 4K sensor, it's Quad HD (3,940 x 2,160) and does a 2 x 2 pixel bin to get 1,920 x 1,080.

Well... the $20k list price surely just blew the DVinfo "info" out of the window?

So maybe we should settle back down and see what else gets announced

It's the latter, a 4k chip that acts as a 3 chip 1080p sensor block.

i dunno, it sounds smart. how is that different from a 422 sensor that we see in other cams? I dunno man it looks slick ok 20k is a lot but it does seem slick. Do those lenses have aperture rings?

- I dunno much about sensors. How is this different? is it not 4 greens 2 reds 2 blues?

Wow, I almost fell out of my chair. The disconnection between Canon and their audience of users....I am truly surprised. Dear Sony and Panasonic, while you didn't make the perfect product for *me* at least you made a product that made sense. Please feel free to send Canon a box of chocolates for helping your sales.

So did Barry win his bet or no, I can't remember...
Just landed in San Antonio and now checking the thread. My faith in canon is pretty much fully justified. Nice looking rig though. I said not before 2012 so I think I win. I said def no af100/fs100 competitor so I win on that. But they really did surprise me by going after the f3. This is over twice as expensive as their prior top end. Didn't really expect them to do that.

Great...the engadget guys are loosing power. Nobody heard of back up power for these sort of events? Jeez.

No. The 16K price is a discounted price for people who subscribe to dvinfo - everyone else pays 20K.

Or it was inflation. Or something...
