I'm also looking for a rigging solution, but not in the EVF spot. I want to mount mine as a counterweight on the back of the rig. I want it to be centered over the 15mm rails, and attached to both rails. Imagine sunnyjimfilms picture, but with the O7Q instead of the battery. Does anyone have a way to do this?
I used this configuration on a recent shoot using a cine arm screwed into the right-side hole directly behind the fs700 LCD. Mainly because I had no other mounting solution, so I hobbled it together. I'm using the tilta baseplate that does have rails at the back, but I just didn't have a rail based mount handy.
I played with the Edelkrone rig a bit at NAB and it was a good, inexpensive solution. Wooden Camera showed an Odyssey with their EVF/Monitor mount and many people liked this as well. And if you want to see a super-versatile rig, check out what Solid Camera is doing for the Odyssey7Q.

Could not get that image link to work.

How heavy is the Solid Camera solution? It looks as though it might add a lot of weight to the rig.
That solid camera mount system seems to be pretty amazing. I just can't justify spending close to $2000 or more to mount a monitor, which is how much it would roughly cost to rig things up like it is shown in the video.

The core system with dovetail is 300 grams or 10.5oz. To compare, a typical Sony NP-F970 L-series battery is 350 grams.
While being the cheapest possible option is not really the goal there is no reason you have to spend that kind of money. The system is modular and starts under 200. You pick and choose the options you need and will never out grow it. You can get a very basic kit that supports the 7Q on a 15mm iris rod very rigidly for under 300. You always have the options to add clutched articulating arm, battery plates, etc. The hand grips do triple duty - kick stand, hand grip, and baby-pin mount all-in one. The full frame protects the 7Q, provides near infinite mounting options for the 7Q and the various accessories like wireless receivers. Add a neck strap that holds the unit in a viewable position while walking around (AC's, directors, etc.) For those that like to feature/cost compare - take a look at all the features and capability. No other system lets you cover every possibility and still start small.
Why not pick something that will grow with you a little at a time?
