Funny because the best looking skin tones I've shot in quite awhile were on an Epic, but I also had a great big source and the subjects were all around 18-21 yrs old. They just glowed.
I've wondered whether i could have gotten such a pretty look from my FS7, but unless they're side by side you don't really know anything.
I agree the best deal out there on a camera these days is an F3 hands down. I cried when i sold mine for around $2700 with the 444 card.
With RED before Dragon you have to be very careful to hit the sweet spot. End of the day stuff/dusk for instance, is very challenging for the Epic. The noise goes up very quickly. It also doesn't handle Tungsten/artificial light as well as natural daylight. Asian skin is also problematic, because it can rapidly become orange in post. Studio work with classical hard edged HDMI however, looks terrific with the Epic. I am of course not referring to close-ups. Close ups look good on almost any camera these days. I have seen things shot on a 5D Mark III which are absolutely breathtaking for instance. I am speaking of when a face occupies at most a quarter of the frame.
