Re: World's First Electronic EF to NEX Adapter!

Let me apologize on behalf of Metabones for the apparent lack of response but in my experience working with them, I think they would not ignore any sales leads. I think the problem was that we could have done better was to clearly explain to all of you about the situation.

Metabones maintains a waiting list and for those of you who asked them about buying the product (by email or by clicking the Ask a Question button), most likely you have already been added to that list. You may simply ping them and ask "am I on your waiting list already? If not please add me" if you would like to make sure.

Over the last 2 months the adapters have been trickling out to patrons who were on the waiting list and some of you have already received your Smart Adapters. As of today, the waiting list is still increasing in length, because we have been having a little bit of difficulty ramping up production over the last 2 months. Fortunately, we have mostly resolved those production issues and we will be able to ship in larger volumes beginning the second half of March. We also have a number of patrons following conurus on Twitter and they will be notified and given the opportunity to order first when volume shipment begins. I expect by April the waiting list will start shrinking in length instead of increasing and gradually the waiting list will vanish over time.

Thank you for your patience in the mean time.

Ok... thats nice to hear Cono. But maybe you could help me answer the question about Eu distributers. first time I wrote Meta thry told me I would get a confirmation... thats not an answer. the second time I wrote, they simply replied "I see".... Thats not an answer either.

I thing, it is best to order directly from metabones, not wasting time to find EU distributer.

Well... There's more to it for me. If I order from the US I have to to worry about customs, tax and expensive delivery.
When I order from the EU, I don't have to pay tax, no customs and the the delivery is slightly less.

In other words, if there is no EU distributer, I might consider no buying it all and just wait for someone to make a competitive product inside the EU and buy that instead. This is bound to happen sooner than later....

There isn't a US distributor. The product is sold and shipped directly from the manufacturer in Hong Kong. Seeing the "unclear" responses you've gotten, my guess is Metabones didn't quite understand what you were asking for since they already ship to EU...?

I know, I also made order from EU. Metabones Canon EF to E-mount adapter x 1PCS (USD399) + USD 18 (shipping). + 20% VAT.

Ah... then I understand. No harm done though. It's great to hear so many people are happy with the product. Just too bad everything has to happen out of China these days to keep it affordable. Maybe we've become too spoiled in EU.

I received my EF-E mount adapter but after few test it seems i have connexions problems.
So i tried on two other FS100 and only one of them appears to run normally.
It's seems that adaptator connectors are too small. i'm waitting answers from metabones about this problem.

Tested with Canon 24 TS-E L and Canon 100-400 L, not listed on the site metabones.
works fine and recognizes stabilizer 100-400
Camera: Sony FS100 and Sony Nex 5n

I sent them an email teo weeks ago, they replied straight away that I was on a waiting list. Then two days ago I sent another email asking about delivery estimate, the reply was that they will deliver "very soon" and right after they sent me a Paypal invoice...

Well i'm having a hell of a time dealing with them, i was told to refuse delivery because of the initial faults which i did, but they have still not received the package back and have had my money for 2 months now, refusing to do anything about it. That's the problem with having to send stuff back to the east. It sounds like there have been two updates at least (so far...)

Paraphrasing Matt, leave it a while and get something that works...

I guess I just have bad luck. I've emailed them multiple times since early January and have never received any time table. It's almost comical to me at this point. I agree not being first is probably the best thing, but now I am REALLY itching to get one to use.

I'll try emailing them again.

perorder(at)metabones.com

This email-account is one which seems to work well right now, at least they respond quickly to me from this adress... And yes, it is perorder, NOT preorder... Go figure.

Well, change of events! They just got back to me and they are about to send me PayPal purchase information. Yay!

I sent back to metabones my adaptor for resolving my connections problem. At the same time i bought one other adaptor, but now, problem is on second one, there is again some connections problem....
I tested adaptors on several FS100 in Sony reseller and i'm losing patience with this adaptor. I would be sure to have perfect product, we don't need imprecisions in our work.
I'm in communication with metabones team, i'm waiting their answers but i'm sure they have to change their small round connectors to bigger rectangular connectors like 18-200mm lens kit. Wait and See.
My test consists to turn adaptor when it plugged into FS100 to see if i loose connection.

Here little video test without tripod of metabones adaptator and tokina 11-16MM LENS for canon fit.
Everything run like charm. There is second part with 18-200mm sony lens kit.

I sent back second bad adaptator and i'm waiting their new connector design.
