Larry Rutledge

Fest Master
Let me first congratulation our finalists for Quest Fest 2009 (listed here in alphabetical order, not by rank):

  • Chasing Kangaroos
  • Desideratum
  • Diner For Two
  • Mahlen

  • Quest For Adventure
  • Tarts, Fools & The G-Men

These eight finalists were selected by your votes and will now compete in a second round to determine the top 3 films.

IMPORTANT! Finalists: Please Read!
Finalists are asked to send a full res export of their film to be screened in Los Angeles on July 25th, 2009. We are accepting media up to and including 1080p HD in the native framerate (preferably 24p) and mastering codec of your choice: ProRes, DVCPRO HD, XDCAM, etc. Please send the media file on a data formatted DVD-R. If the file is too big and you plan to attend the screening, you may opt to send a thumbnail or hard drive that will be returned to you that night.

mail materials to:

Sabi Pictures c/o Zak Forsman
5225 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 311
Los Angeles, CA 90036

DEADLINE: Films MUST be received by end of day July 22nd in order to participate. No exceptions. Please take this time to adjust Color and Sound and minor Edit tweaks without going over 6 minutes. The theatrical environment is unforgiving with regard to sound, so please give it a polish.

Send any QUESTIONS to Zak Forsman.

ROUND 2 VOTING:
In the second round of voting the only choices will be these top 8 finalists. It will be a similar page to what was seen in the first round, however they will be listed alphabetically (not according to their rank, nor according to their upload position).

If you voted on an entry in the first round, your previous vote has been brought forward and will be displayed on the screen and is locked, it cannot be changed.

If, however, you have not voted on a particular finalist entry then you will have the option of voting and until the second round closes you will be able to modify that vote just as in the first round.

WHAT ARE MY RESULTS?
If you are not a finalist and would like to know where you placed and what your average rating was, send me a PM (Larry R) and I'll respond with the details as I can.

WHEN DOES ROUND 2 VOTING CLOSE?
Voting will remain open until 11:00 am Pacific Time (California Time) on Thursday, July 23, 2009.

At that time the second round of voting will be locked and closed. The winners will be announced at the screening event, Saturday, July 25, 2009. We will also announce information then about the next fest.

HOW DO I VOTE?
As before you simply go to:

http://www.dvxfest.com/questfest/

When you get there you will be presented with the finalist voting page.

I think I just shi* my pants.

Edit: figuratively speaking of course... time to go clean up my Color Correction anomalies... and get this looking pristine..

Congratulation to the finalists. Most of them I gave a high rate! Now I am looking forward with great interest to see who will be the first three.

I like to say that this fest most of the story telling of all entries I found very good. So I enjoyed much more watching all the films. Thank you also to all the filmmakers which didn't make it in the second round - Great work!

Wow. Thank you all! As a first time entrant, this has been an amazing fest to be a part of. Not only was it good for us to give us a direction and something to shoot for, but the post deadline feedback has been wonderful for me as a director/producer.

Hats off to all of you.

Congratulations to all of the finalists! It looks like we've got a diverse group and good variety of films for the screening in L.A.!
