GH5 Possible Stabilization Issue - Sensor Rattle

I was unable to test the 8-18 on the Crane today as I got busy at work. But I found an old clip I shot with the GH5/8-18 on a Zhiyun Crane while on a shoot. Just a quick walk down a hotel hallway. It doesn't exhibit any "jiggle" that I can see. Again, I think the distortions are an unavoidable consequence of IBIS (a moving sensor) and a rectilinear wide-angle lens, which distorts perspective wildly the more you reach the corners. That combination, combined with hand-holding a camera, are just going to look weird. It's better on a gimble or Steadicam or dolly.

For comparison, here's a shot using the 8-18 but hand held as I walk down the street. IBIS on. As the sensor moves to compensate for my walking, it's moving towards and away from the edges that are more and more distorted in terms of perspective. The result is unnatural, but unavoidable, I think.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Combined with the other videos posted here I think it’s safe to say that my GH5 is fine and that I just need a gimbal or similar. I’m sure this thread will help others who run into this too. Thanks again

I’m pleased to report that with the GH5, Pana 8-18, Ronin-S combo, no more of the extreme shaking issues. Video is much smoother. I would expect a bit better still, but hmmm.

Here’s a video of a walk using the Ronin-S. I was not walking gently.

To my surprise, the GH5S sensor rattles too. Not stabilized does not equate to fixed in place. Or maybe I’m just the most unlucky person ever?

I went out recording with the ronin-s and the footage is horrible. Could someone who has the GH5S tilt the camera forward and back beside your ear and tell me if the sensor is rattling?

Here’s the awful footage from the GH5S + Ronin-S + 8-18 mm Panasonic

I can accept that, but show me the evidence. I've seen better with the exact same equipment being used in a sloppy way. I use proper technique and still this is as good as it gets.

Do you have a GH5S? Can you hear/see the sensor moving as I do?

I have a GH5S and sensor does not move or rattle. No sound at all. Also have a GH5 and can hear it if I move the camera with power off.

I’m returning it because of the rattle and it has a dead pixel on the screen. I guess I will see if the next one rattles.
