GH4 Possible Fix to this Magenta blocking crap

It's not an "error", it's what the GH4's consumer-grade H.264 encoder is designed to do at the extreme limits of digitization.
That's exactly what I thought based on what I saw and what I know from experience (and could even reproduce synthetically) but then people started saying that it was present in the 10-bit HDMI output, as well. I don't own a recorder to verify myself. It's at least theoretically possible that Panasonic is doing the YUV conversion and introducing the error before the H.264 compression stage. Or people reporting the error in external recorded images are smoking crack. ;-) That's possible, too.

That is how I feel too. Did the reset thing work for you?
No, I thought maybe I had noticed an overall change to the image, but it did nothing to reduce the artifacts. And now I think that the differences I noticed could be attributed to changing lighting conditions.

You promised to shoot street footage like 2 days ago already, where is it?
If you can get a clean footage of a road then color me impressed. (pun intended.)

Tried to get some peace from the magenta issue, while watching a video on youtube saw this:
zCfTBep.jpg The grass seems to have same spots.

This is with Shogun 10 bit 4.2.2 ProRes from Premiere CC 2014.

would be great if one saw if it in proper size.

This Adobe 10 bit ProRes colour issue, can you explain it to me because I do not understand it really?

Is it the same problem with Avid DNxHR codec (in the Quicktime container from Atomos Shogun)?

Regards
Mikael
This is what I'm referring to: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...-LOG-L&p=1986578329&viewfull=1#post1986578329

I don't have an external recorder (I had access to the PIX-E5 for an afternoon) so I can't test whether or not DNxHR has the same issue. Probably not, but if you can test both that would be great! Record the same shot two ways, then upload both into Premiere Pro CC 2015 and see if you can see what I'm seeing.

Cheers,

Paul :)

Thanks for the answer, very interesting. I'm in Adobe Premiere CC 2014 so I can't test this setup in CC 2015.

CC 2015 is to buggy so I'm on hold until they sorted it all out. I will test the different thought between ProRes and DnxHR when I have some time of from work (I'm very busy this week thought) in CC 2014 and see if I see any problem.
Regard
Mikael
