I wonder what the userbase of the Red camera will be finishing in, Either Avid or Final Cut.. what do you guys think?

Of course, Final Cut isn't capable (yet) of handling 4k in and out, but via Redcine and conform it will be possible.

Final Cut at home for offline at 480p. Then take the RAW footage to DuArt in NYC for an online session in whatever works best for them, depending on distribution.

Jarred, can AVID handle 4K at this present moment? As FCP user, I don;t know anythign about AVID?

Avid can and has been able too for quite some time. It by far is the most powerful editor out there and the most expensive.

Other option here.

If we can be beyond the offline @480p with another APP provider, why not so far? As higher as possible?

A familiar pic from my own... My beloved team (25/30 miles away from my birthland): Soccer European Champions 1986/87 & 2003/04, European Super Cup 1987, Intercontinental Cup (World Champions) 1987 & 2004, UEFA CUP 2002/03 among the several dozen of National Championships (ex. the last one ) and other Cups.

FCP here means Football (Soccer) Club of Oporto [Porto in my native tongue -- like the (best ) wine (not NLE :furious3:) of the world]. Paul, are you a supporter of "THIS" FCP (not the other one :cheesy:) too?

good point.. with redcine you can take your 4k and do an 720/1080/2k/4k export into various codecs than can be finished in any NLE.. If Vegas supported 4k (it only does 2k square) then you could export an AVI or tiff sequence and finish it off.

Hmm, I thought Apple was getting a little crazy with the FCP icon. I support both FCPs.

I find this poll to be particularly eye opening. I am really surprised at the ratio of FCP to other NLE users. Earlier in his posts filmmaker1977 has postulated that the majority of people would be PC based using a variety of NLEs, in his case, whatever was the cheapest. I have to admit that I, too, thought that the mix of users would reflect the general mix of computer users...in other words, a larger percent of PC users. This is not meant to be a statement of the pros and cons of different computers and NLEs, it justs surprises me that I am not in the minority (when it comes to RED enthusiasts) that I thought I was.

The bottom line when it comes to computers and editing systems is what can do the job. Hopefully, RED is going to offer lots of flexability when it comes to editing. This flexability will allow people to make the most of their own resources. Obviously, AVID is the major player in the editing houses with FCP just starting to make inroads. I'm excited about all the possibilities and can't wait to have the opportunity to have my first footage cut.
