I'm pretty sure neither the FS100 nor FS700 outputted 10 bit 422.
That pretty much sums up what I'm at liberty to share.Mitch was asking Sony about that ND, response was that it works like an lcd. Amount of shading is controlled by amount of electrical current going through. So it's not a simple polarizer. It's similar to the one that can be find on Red mount. But would be best when Mitch will tune in and explain what he heard.
FS5 positives for me: 240 FPS at full HD res and it does 960 fps at 720P... 960...wow! Pretty cool. The light weight of the camera is startling. The variable ND will be very nice. They upped the computer power so menus will not be sluggish. I like the rotatable handgrip; very EX1ish—pretty cool little camera.
I must apologize and give a correction. The UHD output over HDMI will actually be 4:2:2 8-bit. I looked back in my notes and had it wrong. I confirmed this directly with Sony today. My bad.
My thoughts as well! Frame rates, internal cache, memory cards/slot used... For me everything shouts FS700+/markII/(whatever)!!Isn't the FS5 more like an updated FS700 rather than a slimmed down FS7? The OSD looks more like the FS700 than anything else and not like the FS7.

European reseller Creative Ventures tweeted that they've received more FS5 pre orders than FS7 pre orders at it's release. Also that the pre orders of the FS5 were more than they've sold C100s in TOTAL. If this is any general indication it seems Sony has a pretty big hit with the FS5...
Personally im a bit "meh!" about it. But I guess, if I didn't already have the FS700 I'd be more excited.

Hey, wait, am I missing something? FS7? Not real 10 bit?Is there really any Sony camera that does REAL 10-bit over HDMI? (as in more than 256 level of gradations?)
The FS7 might do?Is there really any Sony camera that does REAL 10-bit over HDMI? (as in more than 256 level of gradations?)
