Periodical Workout Thread ...

Krav Maga is bad arse! Several of their techniques can only be practiced (or simulated) in slow motion as they are so deadly - like punches to the throat, for instance.

Yeah I saw it on Discovery the other day on Fight Quest and fell in love. The look on the guy's face was priceless when the instructor had him fight off 10 guys at once for a minute. So thats my working towards goal right now. Hopefully it will keep me focused and my head in the game. We used to have improvised fight club at the airport when I was a baggage thrower. Damn I miss that. Seems like every fight someone got stuffed into a trash can. Ahh those were the days... I really miss the daily workout though. You had no choice but to be in shape...

cool, i'll post what i did each day as well.

every day I do my warm ups which are:

2 sets, 15 reps - sit ups, squats, push ups, pull ups, back extensions
(sometimes I sub ring dips for push ups)

Today we practiced power cleans. technique on these is the hard part, so I wasn't pulling much weight. I got up to 135 before I called it a day. My form was pretty bad, so I didn't want to injure myself.

my first 2 days back at crossfit have been pretty chill so far, but tomorrow is friday (or what they like to call "fun" friday) and it is usually a doozie. I'm excited for it though.

Sweet maybe if we get enough people doing this it will be sort of an encouragement to keep on going. I know I'll be bumping this thread to the top at least once a day.

Sorry I meant expect bumps in the form of me reporting the days workouts amd hopefully seeing what Thomas or others have done :) Not just bumps for the sake of it.

Hmmmm yeah I need to change my diet too. Headed off to go order BTF. From this thread it looks like the one to go with. 6 meals a day wont be a problem. Its 6 good small a days I'll struggle with :) My 3 trips to McDonalds, two stops by the pizza box sitting in the fridge plus a sandwich probably dont follow the guidelines...

Hmm, whats the sodium content on that?

I'm all up for food short cuts. making chicken and rice and sweet potatoes en masse every sunday and wednesday is getting nuts...

it's got 680mg of sodium - 28% of daily value.
a TON of carbs also, 64g or something.

I mean, it's not the best thing to eat, but it's pretty darn good for a frozen meal to take to work. and they are really cheap! i can't rememberexact price, but only a couple bucks i think.

I went to Burger King for lunch today... lifting that double Whopper and fries was a great workout... and then there was the large drink too...

Well I had to work later than I anticipated (dont answer the phone after 4pm) so I didnt get to hit the elliptical like I wanted, but I did take my silly dog for a good long walk and am headed to go do crunches/pushups/lunges and then off to bed. And instead of our original plan of fast food tacos, we made turkey sandwiches for dinner. So an improvement from yesterday at least. Tomorrow's alarm is set for 5am so we can for a nice cool morning walk. Elliptical when I get home from work while I watch me some Food Network (maybe I should just watch the news...) Anyways its been a good day headed in the right direction.

yeah I want daily reports Terry. Otherwise its going to have go on your permanent record... whatever that is...

I've been eating lots of smoked turkey (minus sauce) from a favorite BBQ place. Basically, I eat three "smart" meals a day and eat large bowls of oatmeal between them. That way I get 5 meals a day.

I've been doing lots of pushups and I can tell I'm definitely getting stronger. I do some pull ups on a apparatus I bought at Academy Sports. Pull ups will definitely kick your butt. They are very difficult to do (based on your weight to strength ratio).

I have yet to kick the cardio into gear. I bought a jump rope, but haven't used it very much. I plan to get my bicycle repaired so I can start riding again.
